    I haven't heard of any cases reported in Jamaica.

    The local news here in Canada reported a few days ago, that the Zika virus is now in Jamaica. Nothing was said about which area.
    I'm currently stock piling deet for our April trip LOL

    Edit;
    Here's a gleaner article, with the location of the incident

    Don't look now,it is in the United States all over the nation.Bad news,it is also spread sexually.I would think the risk is very low but that's what I see on the "news" now.Also,if someone has it and gets bit by a mosquito who goes and bites someone else,oh well,you know the rest.Deet stinks and it will mess up plastics and other things you touch with it.Picardin is what we use down heyuh.

    Here is one I have.Go out to Amazon and type in "picardin" and you will see numerous products.You MUST be very careful and read all the directions when using insect repellents because some of them are quite destructive to certain things like you clothes or automobile interiors for instance.Deet will "eat" plastic and other materials if it gets off of you and onto those surfaces through simple contact.Here's a link to Naturepel http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...reation&sr=1-9

    According to the CDC if you become infected with Zika virus you can have flu like symptoms. Take Tylenol for muscle and joint pain, don't take aspirin. Virus harmful to fetus causing birth defects. See cdc.gov for more information. Don't know about the rest of you but I have those symptoms every year after I return home.lol

    Never had an issue with skeeters at Hedo. Was told they spray to keep them under control which makes sense being so close to swamp land.

    They like to hang around plants and bushes etc much more than being in the open or in the wind is my experience but have not had trouble with them in Jamaica.Is there any truth to taking garlic or other herbs to repelling mosquitoes or is that urban legend?

    When we were there in late Jan - we had them in the bathroom quite a bit. I came home with bites all over me. My BF uses pure coconut oil on his skin to keep it soft after time in the sun. I was using bio oil on my skin for moisture - but I think they must've loved the taste of it because I was eaten alive. Lol. We found out after our trip that coconut oil is a natural mosquito repellent (and it smells great!) - needless to say, next time I'm using the coconut oil as well.

    We was there the last two weeks of April, and only saw one mosquito. I saved you all by killing it, LOL.
    Lots of bites from "No see-ems" though. I think they thought I was Canadian Bacon or something.
    After day one I used deet, never got bitten after that. Wife did NOT use deet and never got bitten till the end of the trip.
    Never saw them fogging this year for mosquitos, but have seen it in the past.
