Best nude beach with swimming????

I'm planning a long weekend getaway to celebrate our 20th in mid June. We've gone to Couples Negril a couple of times and enjoyed the AN beach but it was a little too quiet at night there. We're not 'lifestylers' but not prudes either so the resort theme is less important to us than having a nice nude beach with easy access to ocean swimming without stumbling over families and 'gawkers'. My wife doesn't care much for pools and I'm sure that the hot weather in June will keep us in the water quite a bit so a nice beach for nude swimming is important.

From what I've read here on the forums, Desire is a nice place too but the beach is very public. The beach at Couples Negril is public but it's never crowded or uncomfortable but we've already DONE that. Is there a better spot to try where we can enjoy a nude beach with swimming and still have some fun?

Couples San Souci at Ocho Rios might be what you are looking for as far as swimming at a nude beach. They have a seperate nude beach, adults only. A small river flows into the ocean right at the beach and mixes with the ocean water and is very nice for cooling off. Very nice resort however can be kind of quite quite as far as night life goes.

It is very challenging to find the combination you seek. In my experience, compromises must be made and you must decide which takes priority. If being nude is the priority, I agree Couples San Souci is a good choice. Although it is pricey and the beach is practically non existent, Hidden Beach Resort is a wonderful upscale getaway. Most folks will recommend Hedo though it is definitely not for everyone. If you enjoyed the amenities at Couples you may find Hedo lacking from that perspective. Desire RM is a very nice property and I did not find the beach overly busy.

If night life is the priority and you don't mind keeping your trunks on while your wife goes topless there are other options. We had a lot of fun at Temptations in Mexico. It is kind of like Hedo without the sex/nudity and a slightly younger demographic. Club Med in Turks and Caicos may be a bit far for the weekend but again can be a lot of fun. The resort however is in need of much TLC.

If you just want the best nude beach for swimming, try Haulover Beach in Miami. I don't think Couples San Souci (CSS) is what you're looking for. The main attraction at CSS's AN area is the hot tub and pool which your wife doesn't care for. Sunset Beach at CSS is nice for sun tanning or perhaps floating in the water, but it's a horrible swimming beach. First, the water is chilly due to the White River flowing into the beach area. Also, once you get into the water, the bottom is very rocky with very few sandy spots. There's also no waves and the beach is not very large. But worse of all is the depth. You can go 20 feet out and the water will still be only a couple of feet deep. Also, the night life at CSS is even quieter than Couples Negril.

If you're looking for a resort with a good AN beach for swimming, consider Club Orient in St. Martin or Hedonism. We haven't been to Hedo yet and we're also not lifestyers, but you don't have to be to go there.

Atf2424, I can confirm what Dark Diggler says, that the beach at Desire Riviera Maya is not especially overrun with gawkers. Oh, there are cabanas on the beach there as well. However (and I don't know that this is something you are thinking about), there is officially no sexual activity permitted on the beach.

Guess it kinda of matters what you like to do in the ocean. I'm a Hedo guy and a beach guy. We float at Hedo, really don't feel like doing anything more. Personally I swim as a work out in the mornings before the sun comes up and Hedo is a little challenging as the water is not consistently deep for getting in a mile swim. Since they have made the whole resort clothing optional you can go nude over on the prude side and the beach is pretty good over there for swimming, it's large and sandy, but not real deep. Walking a lovely ten minutes down past Sandal's from Hedo is a wonderful strip of uninhabited beach where it's not exactly legal to go nude, but we've always done it.

We love the beachs in Neril. We love to be in the water nude so we are staying at CN with day/night passes at Hedo. To us this is the best of both worlds. We will be back there at the end of August!!

We are headed to Couples Negril for a week and then to Hedo for a week at the end of the year. Our nude go to Island is St Maarten and we're headed there in April and go nearly every year. We stay in Simpson Bay (Dutch side) but have friends who stay at Club Orient (French side) every year. You can be topless everywhere on the island and we've been nude on at least 10 beaches. Club Orient is one of the longest running nude resorts in the Caribbean. Also fun nude excursions. Not as wild as the boobs cruise out of Temptation Resort or Cruises from Hedo, but fun. Let me know if you would like more info and I can email a packet that I've created for friends who have wanted to go.

Also, Orient Beach has a barrier reef and really soft sand on the bottom, where the others don't. However, there are gawkers but for us watching them walk down the beach pretending not to look at the naked people is entertaining. Seeing a man in Bermuda shorts, dark socks, with dress shoes and a golf shirt is priceless! However, we've never been to Hedo so we can't compare Hedo to the others listed above. In 2007 we walked from the Esmeralda towards Club O. My wife was topless and I wore swim trunks until we got to the nude/prude line when my wife said, "I've taken something off, now you". I said, "I'll take my swim trunks off if you take off your bottom." She said, "okay" and from that day forward, we enjoyed being nudists.

Totally agree with this post. We spent 20 years going to St. Martin and in particular Club Orient. The beach in front of Club Orient is protected by a reef as SXMCOLover stated and is rarely rough…one of the reasons we went there. The north end of the beach can be very rough at times. There are at times gawkers, largely from the cruise ships, but they generally walk just along the waterline (which is public). We labelled the cruisers irreverently as "Black Socks" and they were regarded as a source of entertainment…sort of a "reverse voyeurism". Most looked uncomfortable but on occasion a few would doff their duds and join in…affectionately known as "cottontails". The security at Club Orient is extremely vigilant and anyone with a photographic device is dealt with very swiftly…in the old days I have seen cameras tossed into the ocean of those who refuse to cooperate. The downside to Club Orient is that it is not all-inclusive, nor is anything else on the French side. All the units do have cooking facilities if you are so inclined. The entertainment at Club O wraps up at about 10:30 p.m. so it its usually very quiet after that (but we have partied until 3 a.m. at one of the units). However, you are a short drive from the Dutch side where there is more night life such as casinos.

Thanks for all of the info. The stay at CN with passes to Hedo might be a fun way to mix it up a bit. Vacation time is so precious and few that I'd hate to make a mistake. I've been looking into Desire Pearl too but it seems that the beach is very public there, especially in June. Any experiences there????......thanks

The beach at both of the Desire resorts is public, and people who are not guests at the resort are permitted on it. However, resort security makes sure that no one wanders onto the resort grounds from the beach, and will encourage those lingering there to move along. For our part, we like to think of the fact of the beach being public as part of the entertainment value of being at Desire! The range of reactions of beach-walkers is interesting, and often hilarious (especially couples, where the woman often assiduously avoids looking, while the man is making a concerted effort to stare at the boobies and bushes without getting in trouble!).

Desire Riviera Maya, down the coast somewhat from Pearl, is a little bit farther from Cancun. Maybe the beach-walkers from outside the resort are a little less numerous there?

I think you meant the other way round :-), Desire Pearl is further south than Desire Riviera Maya, but there is just as many beach walkers, it's close to the town of Puerto Morelos and there's lots of other resorts nearby.

Of course- now that you mention it, I do recall traveling south from RM to get to Pearl. My bad! In any case, I did not think the beach walkers were a particular problem at DRM.
