The thought of having breakfast at Pastafari and a romantic dinner in a beach tent does not bother me in the least. They still have the piano bar open?Nude pool open?Bars at nude pool and C/O pool still open?Lots of beautiful naked ladies there?Granted, a free night on you next "off season" trip would be well received. So,I dunno, maybe I am a Kool Aid drinker? If so,please make mine a Purple Rain!
Not that I'm doubting you, but WHERE do you read all this?? I assure you the "average" person does not get this information. I never knew about this site my first trip, and certainly there was NOTHING on this from Hedo while I booked DIRECTLY for next month. And even if I read this last week, am I to pay for the airfare changes etc because I don't want to sit on a piece of plywood in the rain for dinner??
You really do come across un-objective and a bit arrogant... these folks are not completely off base....
you could have just be upfront:
"I heard from ??? that the construction crew was offered a financial incentive to minimize the impact."
Oh, ok....
Joe... based on the photos I have seen there is a much wider scope than the area your are suggesting.
I think we currently have off line:
entrance way
lobby
offices
main dining room
main stage
main pool,
main prude jacuzzis
entire prude pool deck
upper prude deck over disco
catwalk to prude beach
waterslide
casino
pool tables ( being used as offices)
parts of the courtyard where there new serving areas is boarded up
HarrySan
Now thats not a complete list, but I would suggest that the nexus of the resort is now gone.
The staff will of course try to adapt as best they can, but it seems as though the resort has added a very large scope of work.
It would suggest that at least 75% of the attractions on the prude side are offline and there is additional disruption and dislocation that seems to be adversely affecting customer satisfaction.
Other than what you have seen via the FB group, what have you seen about the current state?
I have been told by staff that this state of disruption will last AT LEAST until 30 Sept... and that is the public date.
I do not remember the last time that a project on the resort finished on time, they are all running late.
When we were there at the end of June, the entire entrance, lobby, offices where all being done.
I was told by very senior staff that the work needed to be completed no later than the 4th July weekend.
It seems that there is still no entrance, lobby or offices that I have seen and the same areas are still boarded up, in mid August.
So is there a betting pool on how long over the 1 October date this is going to come in?
Personally, I will be on site as of the 29th of August, and I was not aware of the extent of the work or the disruption it seems to be causing.
I have asked the resort to move my party to the nude side as there is likely to be a lot of additional disruption due to the beach meals and such.
We will be there until the 15th of September and I have resigned myself to the idea that more than 50% of the things i like to do I will have to work around.
But that said, I am very concerned that the lack of open communications with clients like myself to what kind of conditions are in place, presents a customer service problem.
The hotel should be much more open about what is going on there as many have said here.
I will wait to see when onsite, if the conditions merit asking for some form of compensation.
Its likely all will be irie, mon, but it sure doesnt look like it for those of us who are heading into the storm.
Oct 1? When we asked many employee how long.....we were told they want it to be done by the anniversary/ Halloween party.
YoungSwingersWeek have a wedding planned to take place on October 6th on the upper pool deck at 5:30pm
It's a major part of their a published plans for the week. The group will be doing slightly different theme nights to the hotel norm for several nights in order to accommodate the wedding and still keep their favourite theme nights going (love their dedication!)
I am sure everything could be relocated and still be wonderful, but for the moment, And until I know otherwise, I am going to assume that the October 1st date will be met (although I am pretty sure that backup plans are being made, just in case!)
First trip to Hedonism II: 2nd July to 9th July 2014
Second trip to Hedonism II: 2nd October to 11th October 2015
Next trip to Hedonism II: 18th March to 28th March 2016
Wow...some of the snarkiness is really sad...and totally not necessary.
Everyone has their own idea of what is acceptable and what is not and are entitled to that opinion. It's happening here and elsewhere that a number of people on both sides are getting upset because they can't convince the other to see it their way and that's a waste of time and only raising tempers.
No...I am not paid or compensated by anyone to promote the resort and I don't drink Koolaid and insinuating that someone can't have an opinion that opposes another unless they have ulterior motives is petty. That would be no different than insinuating that people who complain are being compensated by a rival resort like Desire to complain about Hedo on the forums. I have my opinion about the construction but guess what? I don't feel the need to share it here because it's MY opinion. I'm just watching to see what the progress is and keeping my groups informed of what to expect. As someone who had been to Hedo nearly 30 times I know that is MY responsibility and that the information is easy enough to obtain if I want to know.
That said...I was there the end of June when construction had begun on the registration area and was told by Mr Levee that the anticipated date of completion was the end of August.
Harry said on the FB page that the pool and I believe the dining room will be finished by October 1 but that the actual contracted date was before that. I don't believe he said how much before that.
Do I think Harry is God and can say that there is no way possible this date will not be met? No. Anything could happen. Heaven forbid a hurricane or any number of delays or problems could arise. But I won't hold the resort or Mr Levee or Harry responsible and I am willing to trust that they are giving updates that they believe are the most accurate based upon what they expect.
And I personally feel all the talk about "Jamaica time" and past deadlines do not apply as I've seen things change drastically since the new management team (which by the way is more than just Harry) has taken over so I am not holding past situations against them and giving them a fair chance. So far everything has met the time frames they have set.

MaryW,
But essentially, we perceive the management does not appreciate our business nor our long term loyalty when these issues get in the way of our hard earned escape to their "resort". Our loyalty, like yours, is easily documented in their records.
As issues similar to ours continue to be reported, we are unable to endorse the "resort".
Should one need to come to a travel review site for updates? Or, especially as a host, should there be routine Web based updates from management giving accomplished tasks, coming next, estimated completion, risks and mitigations, impact. ...
Maybe it's the project manager in me, but if I was out recruiting and marketing for hedo, and then working for them while there, I'd expect some open communication / transparency!
Ps....being around construction in my career, and having seen Jamaica construction in action, let's just hope no one gets hurt/killed (or burns the place down) trying to meet the incentive date. ..
