Thread: Trip Report: Sandy Bottoms Resort. Central Ontario Canada

  1. #16
Lots of NEW at Sandy Bottoms! 6 new cedar Villas (finished July 2018) so a total of 23 accommodations, plus tenting and RV'ing. Not a campground, with no 'sites' but will accommodate as best we can. (campers double the resort capacity, and we get 80-100 ppl on any given Sandy Bottoms weekend... mid week usually seems some vacancies)
New POOL (small conversation, not for doing laps) that holds 25 or more people. After 5pm it's well used (before/after dinner, into the evening). New for 2019: Outdoor kitchen, new His & Hers washrooms and 4 individual showers, all up by the Villas. Camping area has shifted, but we'll find room for your RV or tent.
Age range: ALL ages, but predominently 35-55. Size ranges: EVERYthing! I"m a size 20 and was not the largest, by any means. Very inclusive and relaxed. People who have never been naked before had no trouble baring all. It's the atmosphere and guests!

We are thinking about going there this summer. Can anyone give a recent (2018) report of the resort? Thanks

Themed events are now posted for the 2019 season! New this year: Conversation pool, 6 new villas, and outdoor cooking options. Many other updates and new amenities.
As for PDA... yes, it happens. The resort respectfully asks guests to refrain from any sexual play in the common areas (lounge, hot tub/pool, 3 tier deck) and on any fabric furniture supplied by the resort. (for hygienic reason). But totally cool on the beach, on the docks, on the diving platform and water trampoline (seems to have become a requirement lol), any of the floating day beds, on the grassy area anywhere, and of course, in your room.
Why is this? Because not all guests at Sandy Bottoms are swingers. Guests include nudists, exhibitionists, and couples who just like to be in a sexually charged atmosphere and feel sexy. Not every guest is looking to swing, and some don't want to see others having sex, hense the neutral communal areas.

Because this is a private resort, the address is only given upon registration/confirmation, but it's in Ontario, about half way between Toronto and Ottawa (less than 3 hr drive from either city) and just South of Algonquin Park.

We are heading up July 12-14, brand new to this. Will we need lawn chairs/loungers? I assume that we can use our own portable grill? Thanks!!

A full house is 80+ people, and age range is super wide, from 20's to retired. There is a hot tub, conversation pool along with the private lake. The lounge and kitchen have been recently updated, and is fully equipped to prep and cook meals. This year (2019) there are 7 full weeks and a weekend in Sept to chose from. Schedule of Events each day to help meet others, or just do your own thing. Clothing optional.

Not a bad idea to bring along lawn chairs, as there are only 5 or 6 around each of the communal campfires. There are at least 30 loungers on the beach, plus couches and other seating, so may or may not need them there. As for bringing your portable grill, there are at least a dozen large BBQ's scattered around the resort, all with propane included, so it's unlikely you'd need it, but you're welcome to bring it if you prefer. We have had a few guests who are vegan or eat hallal and cook on their own grill for that purpose. Just no cooking in the rooms!

Has anyone been there this month so far?

Last week was Newbies & Nature week, and we were at about half capacity. Next week is Fun & Games week, July 2-7th, and looks like it's already at about 80% capacity, just a few rooms left. Always room for more campers and RV's.
Here are the themed weeks and the dates for 2019. Choose the one that resonates with you both, or just pick a date and book it!
    July 2-8 = Fun & Games Week
    July 8-14 = Beach Bash
    July 22-28 = Summer Slice
    Aug 5-11 = Band Camp
    Aug 12-18 = TABOTA Party
    Aug 19-25 = Summer Splash
Sept 13-15 = Fall Fling weekend
The Schedule of Events is the same each week. The themes are just to help keep them separate.
(on the dates not mentioned, the resort has a 'take over' and is not accepting individual reservations).

No sexual shenanigans allowed in the communal Lounge/kitchen, on the 3 tier deck, or in the hot tub and pool. And not on the fabric furniture! But you CAN play on the lake, the docks, in the boats, on the beach or grass, or in your room. That should be plenty of room to have some fun!

Yes. It’s a shared resort with nude “Takeovers”. Tell your family that you went to Footprints and you’ll be covered when they search the location

Huge waste of time and money. Website and advertising totally misrepresent the place. Never again.
