Would like a couple good suggestions for 1st timers at a clothing optional resort.

My wife and I are wanting to plan a trip for May 2016. We have been to several resorts before, including couples only resorts but never a clothing optional.

I have looked around and it seems like the clothing optional choices are all or nothing. Hedo sounds like it would be pretty intimidating for us. We are not swingers and don't want to spend our entire trip naked.

What we are looking for the following, and I already assume we will have to settle in some areas.

    1) great food, we enjoy nice sit down dinners with a bottle of wine. It is actually towards the top priorities for my wife. If we need to go off the resort once or twice for this it is okay.
    2) beautiful pools, we normally don't spend too much time on the actual beach.
    3) good service
    4) fun social groups, we would like to socialize and have been to really nice places before where it seemed out of place to even bother other guests. We loved the resort, service and food but the social or party aspect was non existent.
    5) freedom to be topless for the wife and not be the only one. I get that at some of these resorts we will almost be encouraged to be completely nude at some points which we will be okay with but we don't want to be nude all day every day.
    6) lastly romance/sexual. We want an atmosphere and experience/entertainment that is sexual for us to have fun with each other. We are okay with others wanting to be more wild with other couples but that isn't something we are looking for. I read up on desire and I liked how activities and entertainment seemed to be focused on heightening your sexual expetience with your partner.

We are 30 and 29 if that makes a difference. I know we will both be a little uncomfortable at a clothing optional resort at first but we are willing to get over it.

Really sounds like you are describing Desire then Hedo, although no resort (in my opinion can compare to Hedo)

Funny you should say that because I was going to mention your group to them as you're there early May and have lots of younger people in your group. And no worries ChrisDallas, if you join any group, there is never an expectation of play or participation in group activities.

I've never been to desire. Does it have a party vibe?

If we go with Desire Pearl is there a time of year that is best, we can be a little flexible but are wanting spring/early summer.

It is a shame desire pearl is in Mexico instead of Jamaica. We really liked Jamaica. I'm also surprised the choices are so limited.

Well thanks Our group is pretty fun I found the night at Desire RM to be ok, but day time was pretty boring. Lots of people sitting around just reading their ereaders or whatever. No day time socialising at all really. That is one of the reasons I prefer Hedo over Desire RM

I think you'll find a bit of what you're looking for at both Hedo and Desire. As this is mostly a pro-Hedo board (and that's definitely our choice) you'll find that most people here will suggest that but here's how I feel they compare on your criteria:

Either, used to be Desire had much better food but Hedo has really improved to the point were I think they're equally good. However Desire does win hands down for a formal dining experience with really good service.

Hedo has three different pools, the prude pool and main pool are both quite nice and a great place to relax. The nude pool is party central. Desire has one pool, very nice, very quiet, almost comatose.

Desire, no contest. Excellent service all over the resort. Unfortunately the Jamaicans, with a few exceptions, just haven't caught on yet.

Hedo, no contest. For us, Desire has an aloof, pretentious atmosphere that we just don't care for. Hedo is the complete opposite, everyone is very accepting and the atmosphere is very social all day.

Either. Hedo has a nude side, where you must be nude, and a c/o side where she can be topless, clothed, or totally nude. Desire is c/o at the pool, beach, and hot tub but the vast majority of people are nude.

Either, both have a very sexual atmosphere but IMHO Desire is a more classy sexual vibe and Hedo is more fun, party-type atmosphere.

Hedo does have an indoor seated restaurant called Pastafari which is very good. It does require reservations. They also have a top notch wine bar with some very interesting selection. If you enjoy good wines, you can purchase a bottle to enjoy in the wine bar or they will deliver the bottle and glasses to Pastafari.

Agreed, Pastafari is good and food has improved significantly lately. But the service and ambience at Sahlo (DRM) or Pearl (DP) is much better in our opinion. Despite this we'll pick Hedo over either Desiree any day.

I definitely agree that the service at Sahlo is what Hedo should strive for but they are two different cultures. Also, as fancy as the meals were at Sahlo, most of it is in the name and ingredients. I don't think I have ever had an entree elsewhere that had micro greens listed on the menu.

Pastafari was fine for us.Nice break from the buffet etc.We always find plenty to eat at Hedo but admittedly, some nights are little better than others but it's always satisfactory. We aren't looking for 5 star anyway.........But I would say the people are mostly 5 star in my book!

Five star service doesn't guarantee a five star experience. Hedo is a five star experience without the five star service.

Try Fantasy Fest in Key West over Halloween week. Dress up in costumes all week. Walk down the middle of street with nothing on but pasties or body paint. Total Blast but flying into Keys is tough for clothes because you can only take 1 and a carry on. Has to be on everyones bucket list.

This is probably a dumb question, but are PDA's allowed on the CO side of the resort?
