    Snorkeling

So we are about to go on our 4th trip and would like to try snorkeling. Every trip I say we are going to do it and then we gravitate to the nude pool for drinks and that addictive jerk chicken! Questions I have are does the equipment cost anything? Do you just go in right at the beach or from a boat? If from a boat what is the cost? Do you have to wear clothes? Is it worthwhile, anything cool to see? Last... Issues with sea urchins like on the nude beach? Seems like this would be something neat to do. Hoping I can get advice and tips.

Clothes/bathing suit you have to wear....they have equipment, does not cost, but many people bring their own. A boat takes you to hot spots to do it.

It's a blast! Highly recommend it! As mentioned they do have equipment. Take u to the reef. I went topless no one said anything. Sea Urchins not really an issue, but they will warn u coral is super sharp. Very beautiful and only away from resort for about an hour. Bring an underwater camera if u can. Great photo ops!

I know when you go on the Cat cruise on Tuesday they stop and you can go snorkeling, nude...but to do a snorkeling adventure I was told you had to wear a suit. I may have been misinformed or maybe misinterpreted the information given. Either way, I am sure it is fun and beautiful no matter what.

Definitely try it out! We saw little baby sting rays! If you go topless, nobody will notice when you are in the water!

You can go to the water sports shack pick up a snorkel and fins then walk right out in front of the prude beach. I do this every year there are a lot of fish around the rocks.

We went on the trip offered by Hedo from the Watersports area (no cost). It was for about 2 hours on the glass bottom boat and we went to the reef off 7 mile beach. There is a wreck there of an old sailing ship, but there is not much left of it, however I did manage to see a cannon and a very large anchor. They will supply snorkel gear, however I always bring my own. There were about 12 of us from Hedo on the boat but everyone had suits because there may be many boats moored by the reef.

I think they ask you to wear suits on the general trip because the spots they go attract families. Once there, no one around, go for it.

On the cat cruise, everyone does go naked. Reminds me of a little boy who was watching from the cliffs. He kept getting closer and closer.... he was in awe of all the naked people! Never thought he'd make it back up the cliff!

As of very recently: two snorkel trips a day: 11:30 am and about 2:30 (subject to change but posted at the dive shop. They have fins, mask, snorkel etc. Three 'usual' sites: one out front in the bay where there is coral, an anchor, and a canon -- takes about ten minutes to get there --usually quite good, especially if the water is calm and the sun is bright; The caves, round the headland to the right of the nude beach, in Bloody Bay -- the coral is less interesting but the small caves are stunning and the place is used much less often; Out to the left of the island -- used rarely -- coral is less bright but untouched -- calmer when the bay is rough.

Where you go on each trip is up to the 'boat boy' (who knows the waters and the winds) and the experience of the swimmers. From time to time you may be taken on a longer trip -- by negotiation.

The reef out front is now way overused with too many people swimming vertically and hitting the coral with fins. If you are lucky the boat crew may swim with you and show you sea-life you would not notice -- they know the waters.

Almost always a good trip and a GoPro moment or two. Most 'dives' are exactly 30 minutes and run on time (if the boat is working). What you wear (or don't wear) is up to you -- nobody to tell you differently.

    Enjoy

    PNK

Do you tip the boat boy when your group gets back to the resort?

There were two crew on our trip and we did tip them, as did a few others, but not all did. It's totally up to you to give "the Hedo handshake".
