    Long Weekend at Caliente

We recently had the opportunity to spend a long weekend (Thurs. to Sun.) at Caliente Resort. A good friend of ours who we travel to Jamaica with, arranged for a mini reunion of Jamaica friends. Although it was our first time at Caliente, we are very comfortable with the nudist lifestyle. It was an easy half hour drive from the Tampa International Airport. The resort does not offer transfers. Upon arrival, we had to stop at the front gate to give them our names from our reservation. We were told to proceed to resorts lobby to check in.
Check in was very smooth. We both had to be there as they want to see DLís from all those staying. We were given a map of the property and an informational sheet as well as our keys. You receive your room card key in a small envelope that has the dates of your stay. You are supposed to carry it with you and show it to the person at the entrance to the resort. We were only asked for our card envelopes twice in four days. As an overnight guest here, you are able to book private homes, private condos, casitas (fancy name for trailer/mobile home) or a motel room. We opted for the motel and were given a room on the second floor. It was only a short walk from our room to the resort but if you ask, they will pick you up in a golf cart. It is the same going back to your room. Our room was good size with a large open closet for hanging clothes. I canít imagine anyone would bring that many hanging items to a nudist resort. The room had a King bed, two night tables, table and chair and a dresser/hutch which contained a small flat screen TV. The room was clean and bed was comfortable and met our needs. In the room we found two pool towels and two small hand towels to use when sitting down anywhere. We had a balcony with a table and two chairs. It was screened in and we had coffee out there on our first morning. Our first impression was that it was screened to keep the bugs out. As we found out later, all the balconies and patios are screened in so that you canít get your own alcohol into the resort.
I should explain that the motel and all the other accommodations are within the resort boundaries but to get to the pools, dining room, club etc., you need to go into the main entrance of the Club House where one checks in at the lobby. No outside food or beverages are allowed into the Club House and the do inspect your bags.
We were told to expect high prices on drinks and large portions of food. The food portions were good size and at what we felt were reasonable prices (example 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, 2 strips of bacon, 2 sausage links and 2 pieces of toast for $9 or a traditional Reuben with fries for $11). Drinks were priced fair for the location with a good sized mixed drink at about $8. They will add an additional shot of alcohol for an additional $2. There are also happy hour specials where drinks are half priced. Except for dinner on our first night in town, we ate exclusively on property whether on the deck of the sports bar, pool side from the Tiki Bar or the main dining room. Everything we had was delicious and plentiful.
There is a main pool behind the Club House which is not heated as well as several smaller conversation pools that are all heated. The main pool has a waterfall at one end that people can go under and get romantic. People were very friendly, which we expected. There is music next to the main pool on a stage and will range from a DJ to a live band. During the day, the atmosphere was very mellow with people hanging out together, talking and sharing a drink or two.
In the lobby of the Club House, near the main bar, there is a piano player at night playing soft elevator music. One of the people in our group plays piano and tipped the guy to let him play a couple of songs. He livened up the crowd, had people standing up watching him and singing along. Everyone was loving it until management came over and told him he couldnít be playing the piano. It was fun while it lasted. The Club, aka disco had a great crowd every night. Couples were able to dance as close and as sexy as they wished. The music the DJ played was everything that people wanted to hear and could dance to. If the Club got too hot, one could always head outside to one of the pool areas and get into a conversation pool, hot tub or a bed on the deck. I have to say that this area turned into a Hedo-esque area after dark.
Remember that this is a nudist resort and one can leave their motel room and walk down the street completely naked as well as walk into the front door of the Club House/Lobby. People play tennis naked as well as beach volleyball. There were people eating in all stages of dress (or undress). There were people at the main bar that were naked as well as in the Club. Most however were dressed in sexxxy, revealing clothes. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves here and will have no problems returning when we want a getaway for a long weekend when Hedonism II is just too far away.
FYI, cameras are also not allowed beyond the Club House area but many people were carrying cell phones.

Great, detailed report and I can confirm the observations made and experienced based on my prior visits. Caliente is a good alternative to Hedo for Florida residents or visitors and the area offers lots of options off-property also.

I only wish they offered a dining/drinking option and more than one theme night party per week.

Anyway, we all appreciate your report.
