Does it make sense to rent a car if you are thinking about offsite excursions at Desire Pearl?

It depends on what kind and how many excursions you want to take. When we were there we found that you could walk to town quite easily on the beach. A trip to Desire RM was best done by a cab (but it can be walked to on the beach if you are up for it). And for sightseeing trips we went with a tour operator.

As someone who only speaks "resort Spanish" I felt more comfortable with others doing the driving/making the arrangements.
