So we have slacked a little....in getting to hedo for the first time, and in getting simple trip report out.
We travelled august3-10 of 2014
Our travel background is usually waiting and booking last minute in january and researching what the deals are, and where we want to go. This has led us to 3star to 5star resorts in mexico, dominican, st kitts, and we even tried a cruise....and sandals in mobay.
A week before we were ready to roll out on the steel horses..the forecast called for rain and overall not great weather for putting 2000 miles on....so we thought...chill on the beach, someplace lush, no kids, lively....so after a little research, hedo it was.....we quickly dug through the tickle trunk to find our theme costumes and grab what we didn't have in the arsenal.
Good flight, arrived late morning, and amazingly made it from plane to the parking lot in about 15 mins....boarded the bus, where the driver pointed at all the groups and asked where we were headed.....riu....grand pallidium...and of course we were last. "Hedo" he says smiling...."you will be the saddest ones on the bus going home"...boy was he right...
We arrived got checked in....upgraded from prude to nude for waiting a little while they checked others out. Ended up in oceanview near H block which we found a nice short 3 minute walk from everything. We headed down to the nude pool for some sun and drink where we ran into some others whom had posted dates on the calender....we were the newbies of the group but quickly felt as we had known them for years.
Our room was simple, but did not expect luxury...it was clean and the bed was fine...only issue we had was our room key got screwed up and we couldnt get in....not to fret after a short walk to the front we were back in.
Food all week was pretty good, what needed to be hot was, and what should have been cold was as well. Good variety...steak was good and lobster was awesome. Us canucks love our coffee and although it was a little strong we were happy. We ate at the italian restaurant 2 times, very good both visits.....we also ventured to ricks one evening for the sunset and then off to pushcart for a nice meal under the stars.
We were at the resort during independance day week which led to a lot of locals being in house up until the 6th, the next day they vanishef and the resort was about 30% full, great because we never waited for anything. One thing that most commented on was the fact when a lot of the locals wrre at the resort, they would walk by the nude pool, up and down the beach, grab a burger from the hut, but they were never asked to move along by security.
We did have one occaision the first few days where we were headed down the beach to the nude pool with the basics on, and security was quick to mention it was the nude side.
Staff were all friendly and smiles , the music was at a nice enjoyable level by the pool, and the hot tub was hot.
It only took a few days of the vibe to get ourselves to say.....so when we coming back?
Well, just booked last week for feb28 to march 9.....lorna , can't wait to see that smile and hear that laugh, and to those who will be there when we arrive....shove a cheek at the pool bar.
