We left the Facebook Hedo site, in part because it was being run by someone who is not actually an official representative of Hedo and in part due it its policy of having the group be more open than we could tolerate, due to our desire for privacy that FB tends to coblend too easily.

The person running the Hedonism II Facebook group has been doing so for about 10 years now. It is a fan based group and nowhere does it say it is an official site for Hedonism II. It is a CLOSED group meaning that your posts to the group do not show up for anyone to see other than those in the group. It is possible that your friends could get a notice on the FB sidebar suggesting that they join the group because you are a member. Some people had the same concerns you have and have opened a second Facebook account. As Jon Gross has stated, that Facebook group is more relevant and timely than any of the other web sites where Hedo is discussed, including their own. Jon and Harry, two of the new owners, are both active in there as are Amy & Cherilyn, who are the Hedonism II Reservation Manager and Reservation Specialist based in NH.

It is searchable, just type in "Groups about Hedonism" in the Facebook search bar and it will show up. Just click "Join" and wait for a admin to approve you.

Search Hedonism II and there are almost 5000 members (so you know you have the right group)

I agree that official responses should come from their web page and not any forum. But Harry posting on the FB forum is pretty official if you ask me...as someone said there, straight from the horses mouth. In just the last few weeks he has clarified rules about nudity and tipping and announced what the next improvements will be and in what order they will be done. I don't think Harry feels obligated posting there, seems like he enjoys it...and I am glad he does as that is where I spend most of my time now reading and discussing Hedo. Their official forum (paid version) will most likely flop and this one and Denny's is getting less and less traffic everyday due to the ever encompassing balloon of Facebook. Joe's Hedo II FB might not be official...but he has most of if not all of the the main players of Marshmallow Inc. as members.

While we agree that it might be that the official site seems to be lacking traction, as we mentioned before, we cannot join Joe's FB group as the group is not set to "secret" status, which means that FB is continually blending our vanilla FB friends with friends from the Hedo group.

We cannot have the two worlds collide, so until Hedo itself creates a group on FB with the appropriate security model, we cant take take any of that information to heart.

Perhaps we should just ask Harry ourselves ( or the resort) what the official intent is..

I cant see what reason there would be for making the courtyard as a clothing required area, when 20 feet away behind the stage its still c/o

Create a "Hedo friendly" fb account. Lots of people do it

We have our regular facebook account and our "hedo stuff" facebook account. A lot of our friends from hedo do this.

I'm creating a hedo-friendly account for facebook. Quick question: do you guys block your faces in your pics?

I'm guessing you do, because doesn't facebook have facial recognition software that tries to automatically tag you? If I'm totally wrong about this, let me know. I don't use my normal facebook very much anymore because of privacy issues lol.

When was the last time you saw him post here? Hedo does have it's own community forum where you can earn points for posting and turn that into vouchers to pay down your trip.

If you are trying to join the FB group and get rejected, send me a message. I do screen everyone that tries to join so that I can weed out phony profiles.

I think that they were referring to the "Official" Hedo community "lacking traction" not your FB group. Pay to play sites will never work when you have a free site such as yours that is more user friendly and gets more traffic. Things evolve, Denny had his time, then this site now FB...be interesting to see what the future takes us to.

Ya.. thats a nonstarter.. i am not going to create a dual persona just to provide simple protection from inadequate Facebook settings.
We have also had personal experience with Facebook facial recognition "outing" exactly those kinds of profiles.

We have had Facebook show us a photo of the wife or husband of a joint "LS" account and it clearly knows that these are the same people as the vanilla account.

Remember that what FB does.. it connects peoples social networks.. if we don't operate with the correct security model we cannot participate in Facebook.

Those people who create an LS account and think they are operating in safety are sorely mistaken.

We understand that for many people this is not a concern but for use discretion is paramount.

Joe... I understand that you want the Hedo group to be publicly visible, but this creates our issue.. we cannot have our membership or comments in the group be public. We are members of the Fluff secret group and many others that allow us to participate there with the privacy we need for our comfort.

Also the ideas as presented here of creating a LS specific account on facebook is doomed as Facebook is engineered to use facial reco as well as other social graph purposes to connect people with interests.

As long as your group remains visible to the public, this is going to be an issue.

There is a way of being able to open up a page for public consumption and allow people to find the group, but then to have people access a secret group where the actual contact and content happen.. if you are interested, i can help you with setting that up.

As for the "lacking traction" comment, I was referring to the earlier poster who has suggested that the official site of hedonism's site community.hedonism.com
seems to be lacking traction.

It would seem to be problematic if Harry is posting things on Facebook that are also not being reflected in the companies website... this would present a bit of a public perception problem.
Specifically when I asked about C/O policy on the resort and what had been posted in July from the official webmistress, she told me that she had not heard that the courtyard was clothing required and this was likely a rumour.

Clearly the different parts of Hedo need to co-ordinate any intended change in the longstanding policies and communciate those notions via the official business channel of the organization and that we as the guests would expect that comments made on other social media outlets would need to be considered rumour, regardless of who is the poster.

I am sure Hedonism is trying to navigate this social media world the same as the rest of us, Harry included.
