Looks like the aerodrome will close, although a date is not specified, and I'm sure Tim Air and Intralink will fight to keep it open.

Any idea when they will close? We will be there in December when you guys are.
No date...you know as much as I if you read the article. I saw on another forum that it could possibly be turned into a private airport...just not run by Jamaican airport authority anymore. We're keeping our eye on this developing story as we use Tim Air.

sent email to airlink yesterday and they informed me that airstrip was to remain open, but the fire dept personal were shutting down. didn't know there was fire dept personal at the strip!
I guess decomission just means not supported by staff...I remember seeing the fire truck last time we landed. Last year they did have an Airlink overshoot the runway. Glad we'll still be able to take Tim Air...will e-mail them too just to confirm
