    Music Volume

Rather than Hijack the thread on piano bar renovations...

Is Jon listening on this site about the seemingly endless complaints about the volume levels of music in the different venues? At first it was about the disco, but now I am seeing comments about music at the disco, nude pool, dining room, etc.

I know that everyone has different tolerance levels to volume, but there must be a happy medium somewhere? Certain times for lowering the volume?

We now pack earplugs as a standard packing item, we usually vacate from the loud venues but when you can hear the dining room show clearly at the piano bar it is a little excessive and hard to avoid.

Like I said in other post, even the new DJ Shampoo at the nude pool plays it so loud you can't talk without screaming. Not a good volume for the pool. I know people on the beach may want to hear it, but they either need to point to the beach or they need a cordless speaker system for the beach.

Yup, we have hear plugs too. Harry San is now a waste of time for us as we can't even hear what the cooks are saying over the stage music, never mind having a conversation with the person next to us. Is the music getting louder, or is my hearing improving with age, and this new level is normal, not. Anybody know where I can get skin coloured earplugs, LOL.

we always eat dinner early and the music is low... but when the shows start we leave the dinning room as the music is to loud... as for the pool area when we have been there with mark maze the music is good.... not really interested in bring ear plugs... another reason not to go to the disco.... as for the piano bar its to loud in there most of the time.... only for our friend Eldon on the bar we wouldn't go there either...

Dinning hall was so loud in November we would eat and leave as soon as we were done or take our meal up where the old hot tub was over the disco so that you could talk to our friends without yelling. There is a reason that people loose their voice when they are there.

Going ot make myself sound old but: Having been in the event/entertainment/nightclub business for a longtime....this is a common problem with DJ's. While they mean well, they think louder is better or relative to how good of time you are having. Perhaps some of the problem is they are behind the speakers, but for social situations like Hedo, M&G's and other times when new friends are being made a reasonable volume goes a long way. IMHO: ALL A GOOD DJ HAS TO DO IS PAY ATTENION TO THE CROWD....IF THEY SEE A GUEST HAVING TO LEAN IN TO TALK INTO EACH OTHERS EAR...ITS TOO LOUD! (no yelling, just making sure that point was read...lol)

Indeed, which is really no good in the extremely social environment that is Hedonism II. I managed to hold on to my voice up until the final day of our 7 days last time by constantly reminding myself not to shout over the loudness and simply got extremely close to the person or moved us far enough away from the area to talk, but it's ridiculous that we have to do that.

The disco is insanely loud, which is why you find groups of people hanging around out back near the waterslide pool instead of on the dance floor.

And yeah, dinner entertainment could be a few notches lower in volume as well. I feel borderline anti-social while we're eating because I refuse to have to shout the entire time. It's one of the reasons I enjoy Martino's so much, you can actually have a great conversation with new friends at dinner.

I frequently tell my wife that my phone never rings for people asking me what to do BUT were I running the place the disco would either be turned down or torn down and the space utilized for something else. Our experience has been that you rarely find more than 3 or 4 couples in there. We have been to other resorts where the Disco is "where it's at!".And it was too!

I'm not sure how what the dj's are hearing from their headphones compares to what the rest of us are hearing, but I do know that while standing in the dj booth in the disco it is impossible to tell how deafeningly loud the music they are playing over the dance floor is.

Half the time the DJ is in by the bar at the disco, so they must know how loud it is.

This is true, but even though it's loud by the bar (to the point where you have to yell your drink order) it's way louder on the dance floor where the speakers are aimed. I hadn't really noticed how much louder until our last trip because usually I tend to hang out in the bar area when inside.

Regardless, lowering the volume in the areas mentioned in this thread was one my main suggestion on my comments card upon leaving.

I'm hard of hearing and frequent bars, clubs and concerts. Trust me when I say it's loud! Especially at the disco! By the pool the volume varies.
