WestJet is WestJet. Usually on time. No real food service but do not charge for checked luggage -- yet. YYZ Term 3

AirCanada is AC. Spotty service sometimes but OK. YYZ Term 1

SunWing WAS excellent but more and more complaints and problems and delays. They were my favorite airline to Jamaica until recently. YYZ Term 1

AirTransat are good too. YYZ Term 3

We are using WestJet in July (again) as they have the late afternoon run from Toronto, returning at about midnight -- so we get a complete day on the beach the day we fly home. Pearson is quiet when we get home and MoBay is totally empty when we arrive about 6;30 PM very fast through Immigration etc.

I wouldn't worry too much about the airline you go on, they're all equally bad in my opinion. Customer service seems pretty much non-existent thses days and they nickel and dime you on everything. Just grin and bear it, the party starts when you get there.

And with one airline (Frontier) now charging for larger carry-on items, the nickel and diming just keeps on coming. Will the rest soon follow?

As for the original query - we use WestJet to fly from Canada. They're the best of a mediocre lot - can't stand using Air Canada and flying through Toronto. That being said we are flying out of Winnipeg with a flight change in Toronto.

For anyone using Air Canada Rouge for the first time, download the AC app before you leave so you can access their in-flight entertainment from your IPad or IPhone. If you're like us and have never imagined there wouldn't be screens in the back of the seats and can't sleep on a plane, you end up reading everything in the seat pocket ahead of you. They do provide an interesting leaflet in there with everything you can make out of an air sickness bag
We downloaded the app from Club Mobay departure lounge for the flight back but still had to share one head-set and try to agree on a movie we both wanted to watch.

We have been flying WestJet for years. Only once have we had a problem with a delay, we extended our stay by one day and the counter person at Westjet changes our tickets for NO charge. Staff are friendly and helpful and we pay the plus fair for flexibility. For regular fares they are now charging for extra baggage however for a regular scheduled airline (not charter) they always seem to have the best fares. Get a WestJet Mastercard from RBC and you will save $250 on your next flight plus receive a $99 companion ticket for travel anywhere in North America.

We find Westjet to be the best choice for Canadian travellers to Hedo.. better performance than AC, generally lower cost, and the flight attendants have all finished thier customer service training

We're also WesJet fans...2 flights daily from Toronto, It's nice to leave the resort at a reasonable time for an evening departure on the way back, and don;t have to be at the airport at an ungodly hour heading down. We avoid AC like the plague they are. Charters are OK...but seat room is tight and they have a small 20Lb carry on...alot of bags and a pair of shoes exceeds the weight limit.

Prefer Westjet over AC but really not happy with either. Of late Westjet seems to be having more seat sales. Looking back over the last 10 years of our travels to Jamaica, the Westjet price hasn't changed much. BUT Westjet has been slipping in recent years, closer to AC. But be thankfull, they are not Samoa Airlines, they take nickel and diming to the limit, charging customer for their weight. http://abcnews.go.com/Travel/samoa-a...ry?id=18862095

Hopefully an April fools day joke.......

Always use Air Canada because connections from Saskatoon usually require an overnight in both directions on Westjet. The food is much better and cheaper on Air Canada. The planes are nicer ( Embardier 190 and 767 ) They have entertainment that has a selection of more than 4 movies, they have a great price on stopover hotels ie; 100 vs 160 also they are usually way cheaper from Saskatoon .Also Air Canada uses Terminal 1 instead of the run down shabby ( and cheaper) Terminal 3 in Toronto which is used by they low cost airlines or airlines which only have a few flights a week. As far as Westjet being on time, we took 9 flights with them once a 8 were late.

I'm in the US and primarily use Alaska Airlines, with United as a standby in case Alaska doesn't have a route to where I want to go. Both Alaska and United do business in Canada.
