    Transfer back to Airport

    Hi all

Just looking for some advice ahead our June trip.
Our agent doesn't include transportation in our booking.
Last November we booked Rockys for our transfer from/to the airport.
This time around we're thinking of just using Rockys one-way, from the airport to the resort. (No reflection on Rocky, we were very happy with the service in November).
We just wondered how best to book the bus for the return trip? Can we do this thru the resort once when we get there or are we better booking in advance. What's the going rate for a one-way journey back to Mobay on the bus?

    Thanks in advance

First off; everyone will have had different experiences and will have different opinions, so this is just my take on the shuttle bus situation.

The included bus transfer had suited me fine; since 2004, minor niggles, but nothing to put me off using it - until last year!! When the bus was arranged by the resort things we very straightforward, you might also stop at Grand Lido, but that was it. When they stopped arranging the transport and your TA would have to book it for you, that is when the problems really began. Last year we had a rotten time, waiting in the heat for the bus to be organised and to set off; we made several stops on the way to Hedo. For the return to Mo Bay we nearly missed our flight and that sort of stress is no way to end a vacation. They did not arrive at first and the resort had to call them, when they did turn up at last - remember, we were late at this point - the bus went to GL, then back to Hedo, then to another hotel, then back to Hedo, then to Rui, then back to Hedo At this point we were really worried about our flight and I had to - loudly - remind the driver about the time issue I had told him about when he first arrived. We did, just, make our flight but vowed "Never again."

This year we used Rocky; this cost $20.00 more than the transfers our TA would have supplied and the experience was the best transfer we have had going to Hedo. The benefit of having your driver there, ready for you, is great and is worth about 30 minutes off the journey.

Interestingly; many of our friends said they had awful bus trips to the resort this year and stated they would not use the bus again. Even though they had already paid for their transfers on the bus, I know of 6 people who got the number from us and who used Rocky for the return to the airport. They operate a fixed fee for 1 to 4 passengers so, if you can coordinate with some fellow travellers, you can reduce the cost to cheaper than the TA transfer.

There are many other taxi providers out there who get great reviews from those who have used them. So, the only recommendation as to which taxi service I would make is - check with other travellers and book one someone else has had a good - and safe - experience with.

    Hope this helps a little
    Keep on having fun

Yes there would be all sorts of options. The resort can arrange it for you or you can work something out with one of the local taxis. My thoughts would be that it's probably cheaper to pay Rocky for a two-way trip and you don't have to worry about it once you're on site and in party mode.

We used Sun Holiday for the trip over.It was fast and efficient and there was no stopping or detours.Took just over an hour.We did not wait on the bus more than 5 minutes to depart.

We have always used the bus on our hedo trips. But we both agreed next trip we would try a cab. Our experience with the buses have been hit or miss. Some times it's a breeze and sometimes your stuck waiting.

We had pre-booked transport mbj-h2-mbj. We sat in the bus at mbj for over an hour waiting for other passengers who never showed up. The driver seemed to be friendly and nice. However he was very keen to stop at a sleepy shack on the way where we foolishly bought overpriced beer. We were also offered some serious drugs by a slightly pushy lady. The place gave me the creeps.
On our way back to mbj we had a driver who was very nice and informative on the trip.

When u exit customs, holiday and sun tours have a kiosk in the lobby. Buy a round trip ticket. They will pick u up your last day. Easy squeazy, regards. Andy

We either fly Tim air or Air link ( more professional) but as other have stated it is getting too expensive. Taken bus once , never again, always book private transfer only little more, but way faster. Remember , divide your trip price by total hours in Jamaica at resort and you will see hours spent waiting for buses etc can add up to hundreds of dollars.

We take timair back --when it's time to go home no reason for the delay.
go to the travel desk and they can hook you up the day before. 1.5 hours on a bus or 15 min -- 230 for both of us. a great way to go.

i have no experience with any of this since the last time we went, everything was included. never had any problems with the included transfer back in the day.

however, i am getting a little uneasy with reading some horror stories about missing planes, etc.

what is a reliable transport agency to and from the airport and what are their prices?

has anybody had experience with tim air or airlink? which one is better.
