    Help settle an argument

The wife and I were looking around for outfits for theme parties. She thinks that we are putting too much effort into the costumes for her. She said that through blogs and pics available online it looks like the costumes are not important. Looking for feedback from veterans. Please provide specific details about specific nights if able! Thanks

It is what you make it since it is your vacation. But a lot of people put A LOT of effort and thought and design and sometimes even money into their outfits. I know our group goes all out. And never think you will over do yourself at Hedo, most times you will get there and realise you really underdid it and wish you would have done more. Worst case is that you go and you have out done everyone there with your outfits, that only means you will get the most positive attention there and everyone will be very impressed. Hedo is what you make it - all out or nothing at all - that is the great thing about it.

So my vote is - go for it!!!

we used to put alot of effort into our costumes, ended up spending alot of money on them. it was fun dressing up, especially if you are going with a group that all dresses up. We now dont bring so much down. I do like to look for something fun to wear for pj night, but dont really do much for costumes anymore. I would rather spend the money on a really sexy dress. Something i would never wear at home! To each his own though! You can wear what ever you want, and at hedo, know one cares! Although, i do admit i love to see the people dressed up and always compliment a cool costume! Have fun!

We have done both, putting a lot of effort into costumes and otherwise. If you're doing it because you feel like you'll be out of place if you don't, then you're probably overdoing it. If you're doing it because it sounds like fun, do it and know that you will have other like minded travelers. You'll never be alone in the crowd, and like mac said, if you outdo everyone else, your only consequence will be lots of compliments.

Go for it, you'll have more fun, especially if going with a group. If you're not with a group, it can be a good ice breaker. Some nights the themes are not as popular as others. If you're not sure, suggest that you pick certain nights and go all out for those.

Maskparade night participation has been low when we were there, Sat is often a turnover day and people are tired from traveling. Naugthy schoolgirl has a lot of participation (been around for a long time and everybody has a costume - at least the ladies), pirate had lots of participation, lingerie is a no miss - easy to do and sexy, fetish and black & white did not have a lot of participation, rockstar has always been a bust for us as the following group always has a different theme, but this is usually a great theme.

She's right, let it go. Bring just one outfit for theme night, that way everybody wins, now to decide which one? Schoolgirl is a big favorite, and costs practically nothing! Good luck,

Ok, thanks for the feedback. To piggyback off that question. What is more popular, outfits that leave a little to the imagination or are most females practical nude with a plaid skirt??

The most popular is PJ night, however, if she's not comfortable she probably won't have much fun. I don't dress up for naughty school girl night or fetish night.

    2 part answer:

Costumed theme nights at Hedo serve several purposes including allowing guests to innovate, create and show off both costumes and bodies.

My group, the Krewe de Krazy Life, loves the themed costume nights just like at Fantasy Fest (Key West's answer to Mardi Gras on steroids) and a side benefit to wearing the costumes is that staff loves the laughter, amazement and certain "energy", they produce at the resort and many of our Krewe members enjoy the special attention their costumes evoke. People are more apt to initiate a conversation, nod an approval or generally just appreciate the efforts of those that participate in the costuming of the theme nights

While it may not be necessary to do it every night, having at least one or more interchangeable outfits are good. Funny, sexy, or krazy--they are all good.

As for which outfits are best....anything or nothing are both OK but I personally like the revealing and provocative costumes but then again, I'm not shy about having only half a costume--either top or bottom---or even bodypaint (this June Group Trip we have Pashur, www.canvasalive.com as our own bodypainter)

Like others said, go with what you are comfortable with each night and if you don't feel like getting dressed up...no problem. You can't make a wrong decision.

The travel slut (Ann) always has great stuff! I highly suggesting you go all out for PJ night! Oodles of fun! And she's right on 'no wrong decisions' maybe bring a few back up options if you decide to go for it!

I put the effort into the themes that entice me the most and some nights just do slutwear. There are people that wear one outfit to dinner and then go change into "costume" for the later activities like piano bar and disco....

Your vacation, do it your way. We pick the top few we want to go all in and leave it at that.

My wife was eager to participate in each costume contest to get Hedo bucks. She stuck to "simple & sexy" and ended up getting a lot of compliments after the shows usually from other girls.

But the thing is SHE wanted to participate and had fun getting ready each night...and had a blast getting out of the costume each night too (sometimes with the assistance of another girl or couple).

Don't feel like you have to spend tons of money on outfits. I pick up clearance items all over town. I am always on the look out for Hedo slutware when I am shopping. None of my outfits cost more than $20, but I look sexy as hell and get tons of complements! I love having a theme outfit for each night. Where else can you dress like that 7 nights in a row? I say go for it! I even pack extra outfits to share with new friends I meet! We met one couple who had their luggage stolen out of their car on the way to the airport. She was so upset about losing her theme outfits that she had worked so hard on. I happily shared outfits so that she could still enjoy the Hedo experience!
