Credit Card Fraud

Just a heads up to watch your credit card bills.
We were at Hedo over New Year's and have just had the card we used there compromised. This was the only place it was used in the last six months.
I have sent and email to the resort with my concerns, but thought I would put it out here as well. It took 2 months for the activity to start so keep watch as you should always.

I always use cash in Jamaica, but on the rare occasions that I might need a card, I shut it down as soon as I get home and get a new number. Yes, we've had issues there.

We use cash almost exclusively, but we also have a card just for Jamaica with only a $500 limit on it just in case something happens...which thankfully has not in our 15+ trips!

Did you use it anywhere outside of the resort?
(Souvenirs, dinner out, etc)

I never worry about it, that is why I use a credit card since it is covered if there is fraud.

The only place we've used ours is at the front desk, and the gift shop

One charge only at the front desk for internet.
It may be a good idea to lower the limit and change it out after every trip.
We weren't held accountable for any of the charges made on it but honestly I would have liked to be making the charges since they were in Miami and not in this freakin' cold hell hole!

Just a note that I have had a card that was used at a compromised location over 2 1/2 years ago and cut off then by the cc company as a precaution, all of a sudden have a rash of charges show up just recently. Nothing to do with hedo, btw. But my point is that card details can get stolen and sold off years after they were grabbed. So it may not have had anything to do with your recent transactions at hedo, it could be from long prior to that visit at some other location. Of course be careful, as you never know where they get compromised.

Just in case i never use my main work cards in locations like this, i use a alternate small limit card that wouldn't cause me grief if i got the phone call terminating it at a moments notice.

Sadly the only place this card has ever been used is there... It's all taken care of on our end so no biggie and card copying is a rampant problem all over the world these days and most look exactly like the proper machines so unless you're the one who changed it out you're probably not going to be able to tell.
We had the same problem with another card. I only used it at Costco and one gas station. Two times it was compromised, turns out the gas station was selling info..

Someone charged boat load of things on his card. He called hedo. They said they would handle it!

You call in your card as stolen everytime you come home? That can't be good for you or Jamaica.
