On the other side. I don't smoke cigarettes, but I do smoke reefer. I never knew that I wasn't supposed to be smoking in the room till someone mentioned it a couple of years ago. Reefer doesn't leave much of a aftersmell if there is a little ventilation so no staff member ever mentioned it. Once I was told, I just go stand out on the deck outside my door and spark up, I usually leave my room door wide open so it's almost like being in the room, as I can still hear the boombox or whatever.

I guess in the end it's only your room for a week and then it's someone else's, so a little respect in that regard is good. I'd hate to move into a completely full resort and find out my room smells like and inside out ashtray.

    Cheers

Were not cigarette smokers maybe reefer when we're in Jamaica but not a must!! They put a a lot of time and money into the rooms so they don't want them to stink like smoke. I'm happy with the fine we've been in rooms that stink and bought candles to mask it!!

E-cigarettes do NOT smell like perfume. While many come flavored, the scent is mild at worst and does not linger. You realize that the output from an E-Cig is WATER VAPOR right? In other words steam, which disipates almost immediately. If I sat in room next to you using an e-cig and you were blindfolded, you wouldn't even know about it. You're letting you anti smoking zealotry affect your thinking.

Agreed on this. I don't smoke cigarettes or reefer but have friends who do both, and cigarette smoke lingers much worse in an enclosed area than weed. I prefer them both to be smoked outside though.

Yeah, I've never smelled anything from an e-cig even when inside my car with the windows rolled up and the passenger using one right next to me and I have a very sensitive sense of smell. I've heard that the fruit flavored ones can smell like whateverflavor they're supposed to be but I've never been around one that I could smell and if anything I've heard that they smell good.

We don't have a big problem stepping out for a smoke but come on how about smoking rooms, they have them at the Riu in Mobay. But from what I have been told Kevin does not like smoking and he makes the rules, but hey should have smoking rooms.

***This is actually a new Jamaican law, not at the discretion of management -- I bring my own ashtrays as well but guess will be washing every night since no way leaving out for sticky fingers who forgot to bring their own..LOL

Well this should be interesting, at the end of the year Parliament will make ganga legal. As far as the smoking law the Minister of Health who wrote this and had it passed put such a high fine for violators they cannot collect said fines and to have a smoking area at Sangster which has a roof and is a government building is somewhat funny to me. But like I said earlier have smoking rooms resorts that are 3 times the size do and it works.
