Agreed, Rocky's is the way to go. TripAdvisor reviews are all very positive and they lived up to their reputation for us in November.

Are you talking a private transport or large bus or comparing both?
There are private taxi's, to small busses.
    There are large bus transports.
There is Tim Air to fly you over.
    Lot's of choices.

Yeah that is why when you email companies you give them your flight number so they can check to see if it is on time or late.

IMHO, the best way is to **fly** there on Tim Air (you get home in what? 15-20 minutes) and then just take the cheap shuttle back to MBJ, since you spent the $ to get there quickly..

We did the trip alone in a mini-van on one trip and found the ride long. We enjoy the bus with more interaction. Always fun to toy with the vanilla folks and watch their faces when you arrive home. I think we converted a few! Even better when you start having fun with other friends on the bus before you get there.

We did that last Sept, when the bus picked us up on the return ride back to Montego Bay..all the husbands already on the bus were practically licking the windows as it pulled up to the front and the wife's had that pissed off look.. By the time the 3 couples including ourselves got on that bus, people were like ohh their those kind of people.....so for the hour and a half bus ride we let them know what those kind of people did at Hedo...all the guys were smiling and the wife's well lets just say those vanilla people should have been left at home...lol

The flight on Timair or JA Airlink isn't worth it IMHO. It saves ~30 min over a taxi, and costs >$200 per couple. Yes... The flight itself is 15 min. But getting to the domestic terminal, checking in, waiting. loading, unloading, then taxi'ing to Hedo has typically taken us ~1 hr overall.

Flaming - The 'best' transport depends on what your looking for. Cheapest is Juta: $20pp each way. We like using a trusted taxi driver. Have used a guy named Biggs many (like 35) times. $60/couple. He's at 876-410-0536. As always, be sure to confirm the price before getting into any unfamilar cab.

thanks for the info. I stored Biggs in my phone and will call him Tuesday about my Wednesday arrival. I have taken Tim air and its okay, but the new shuttles don't go directly to Hedo and theres a 30 min - an hour wait, then you have to drop everyone off at their hotels on the way to Hedo...so I am thinking a private driver.

Unless you have a lot of experience driving in Jamaica you don't want to rent a car. The Jamaican's drive on the left side, instead of the right as we're used to, the roads through the towns are narrow and very busy, lots of bicycles, small motorcycles, and pedestrians. The Red Stripes (Jamaican police) would love to pile up charges against a "rich" American.

My suggestion, take the bus, or hire a taxi (I always use Rocky's) and enjoy the scenery. The drive time is a little over an hour and very pretty.

If you get pulled over for a traffic violation, you must pay your fine to the police office before you go on your way.
