We didn't tip on previous trips because we heard that staff could be fired if they were found getting them. Has this policy changed?

Yes they can be and will be fired if caught. If you are going to do it, put it in your palm and shake their hand and thank them for their service, they will know what to do

Not sure of the "problem" We have never tipped in expectation of better service. We tip because it makes us feel better. Pretty shallow, but I Know it is appreciated. The cleaning staff especially, but also the barstaff. Small tips. These people are dirt poor with no opportunity better than working in a resort. Just saying...

The no tipping policy is to ensure ALL guests are treated equally. Not because you tip, we did to express our appreciation for a above and beyond effort.

We agree with tipping to show appreciation of the service we received NOT tipping to get better service. But we are curious what people feel it an appropriate tipping amount since it will be our first time in Jamaica.

We usually tip by being polite and very gracious to all of the staff. The housekeeping bartenders waitstaff etc... and all those who work for our great vacation.
They all deserve gratitude and respect in the form of a friendly greeting everytime you see them and always being as friendly as they are toward us.
