Thanks to everyone who is replying!
I was nearly ready to pull the trigger especially after I found out about the free diving
when I read some reviews mentioning that the beach is not very good for swimming?
    urchins /sharp rocks/seaweeds etc?
And that the sand is different from the lovely Negril sand further down the bay?

Being Negril I assumed a gorgeous soft sand calm beach was a given.. I never seen much seaweed or any urchins or ever seen anyone get hurt or cut by rocks further down the bay...

Anyone have any reassuring info on this? I really hope those reviews were just a few unlucky people and not the norm?

My wife and I take our morning stroll from one end of the beach to the other with our morning coffee. The sand is clean and soft. The swimming area on the clothing optional side is nicer to swim in (from our experience) than the the nude side. The roped off section of the ocean on the nude side does have a fair amount of seaweed, I normally just keep my sandals on when we swim there. It isn't very deep but nice to lay on a floatie and just relax. I haven't talked to anyone who has stepped on an urchin, but that isn't to say it isn't possible. When we walk on the clothing optional side, we normally walk in and stand in the water and watch a variety of little fish swim around our legs, kind of fun way to start the day.

We have been diving while at Hedo, and the dive crew is great! There are members of our little group of lunatics that dive every day. There are two dives daily I believe. An early one (like around 9) and one in the early afternoon.

But as far as the beach and the swimming areas in the ocean, I haven't heard of anyone getting hurt on any sharp rocks or stepping on urchins. Hope this helps.

Probably put on a show or 2 but who really cares.
Who really cares? We love to see couple having special time at that pool. We also like to spend a little "alone" time there enjoying each other. If someone watches, even hotter!

    Hi Everyone,
first post, I hope this is the correct section for a couple of questions...

my girlfriend and I are thinking about a 14 day trip this February/march.
We are from the UK and early 30's...and love Jamaica, especially the chilled out reggae/stoner vibe...
We are not into lifestyle , just nudists, so just looking to enjoy 14 days staying as naked as possible...
we have previously stayed at clothing optional places but this time we want a full 2 weeks in the buff!
We tried to book club orient on sxm but its full

So we are looking at hedo for a simple reason : it seems to be the cheapest nude resort in the Caribbean at that time of year...(that still has rooms)

we have absolutely ZERO problems regarding what others do around us...
just not comfortable with the idea of anyone randomly touching either of us
or even worse anybody's bodily fluids flying on us etc..
I doubt we would ever even swim in the pool...we are sea lovers...and I personally hate chlorine...

I think we would both enjoy milder nude activities like volley/watersports/snorkeling/catamaran
and maybe even some sexier games but those would have to be be strictly between us...
And finally as I said we enjoy the more reggae/chiled/ganja vibe, not really into binge drinking...maybe 4/5 beers a day just normal stuff..

so my question is will we be ok at Hedo treating it mainly as a nude beach resort and only partaking in the milder nude activities?
Also we are totally not into dressup and def wouldnt be bringing costumes etc, so is zero effort on theme nights ok?
And overall is hedo generally ok for lazy, sand-gravity affected stoners?

I hope somebody can answer our questions or in general give us some tips...

    Thank you
You will feel very welcome. Hanging out naked and chatting with everyone. A little sexual activity during the day around the resort, but not offensive.(to us at least)
Theme nights are fun and some of the couple go all out. Many just dress sexy and many are even in vanilla resort wear. At hedo, it is whatever makes your Jamaica dreams work.

I have water skied there, but the set up isn't for hard core enthusiasts. Our preference is to just relax, hang out and let each day come as it may. There are lots of activities for vanilla couples and lifestylers alike.

People don't go to Hedo specifically to dive or for the great beach. I would assume that is an added bonus.

Personally I think the sand is fine, the beach is super because of the people.

We go to Hedo for what Hedo is all about. Meeting new peeps and having a great time. Hope you find what your looking for,
    Happy Holidays!

My husband has been enjoying the free SCUBA diving at Hedo for years....he finds it interesting, not world class, but good. Free is always nice! The snorkle trips are really lovely and fun as well. As for the beach, like others have said, the c/o beach is prettier and nicer to swim at. Since they built the jetty many many years ago between Hedo and Point Village, the sea doesn't cleanse itself or the beach as it was meant to and yes, seaweed and urchins can be an issue. Sadly, sometimes the nude beach is not as lovely as it could be. And no, it is not up to the amazing beauty of the big beach in Negril or Bloody Bay...a bummer for sure for those of us that are beach babies, but that is the way it is. That said, the sand is fine...it has to be replenished after storms like it does at several spots on the beach so over the years it changes. It still feels soft on my feet and I sure wish my toes were in it now.

I guess it depends on what you are looking for in a vacation. If you like free diving and hanging out nude, with or without the lifestyle aspect, Hedo is the place IMHO.

    Hope this helps!

Ok i think were ready to book again, now just deciding how to book it, we have a tour operator called thomas cook, that has the room waaaaay cheaper than the superclubs rate, they are not the best but at least it is well...
We read about all the bumping etc so were wondering is booking direct with the resort worth the premium to have peace of mind that our room is there, or when it comes to overbooking do direct bookers also get shifted?
it would really bother us to come all the way from europe only to have the plans totally changed, during the first couple days it seems well overlap a 'fluffernutter' group takeover...do you think overbooking will be an issue on these days or just book the cheaper deal? literally $500 cheaper than the standard rate for european guests...

or do they offer quote matching? After all if they get the booking direct they dont have to pay any agent any commission...

Thanks again for all your help, i feel so much better making all these decisions with your support.....with all thse doubts if i didnt find this board we would probably have ended up booking couples instead...

fluffernutters will be a total resort takeover i believe. the new owners of the resort are fluffernutters. so yes, overbooking likely. can you only book with a uk operator? can you book with the fluffernutters?

We only overlap them a couple days , we want to arrive on the 26th , the group leave the 1st...
Thing is it seems booking from europe is always a better rate, i did check some grouprates...
maybe they feel sorry we have to pay thousands in airfare... Booking the resort directly with european rate is only marginally more than US travel agent group rate, whereas booking a european travel agent is way cheaper...

My wife and I have also enjoyed some private time at the two little pools right below the gym. They are right there in the open but down a level, so there is plenty of privacy right in the middle of the day. It was pretty exhilarating to hide out in plain sight doing fun adult activities!

    OK WE BOOKED!

    8 Days from March 6th
we booked a week later than planned so as to avoid the takeover by the fluff group which exposed us to overbooking etc risks

Reserved direct with the hotel so as to be sure the booking is safe (well safer)
in the end the hotel direct rate (for EU) turned out only like $7 per day more than the group rate quoted by some of the specialist hedo agents (US)

I would like to thank everyone who helped us come to this decision, we are a little nervous but also very excited !
