Best beaches in Cancun / Bahamas

We are looking for a great beach in either Cancun or the Bahamas. Topless, nude or clothing optional is fine and
we would prefer an upscale resort.
    Any ideas?

In the Mayan Riviera your best bets are the two Desire Resorts (we like Desire Pearl - great resort) or Hidden Beach. But be aware that all beaches in Mexico are public so if you want to lay out nude there be a family (and kids) from the resort down the beach that walks past you.

    Thanks for the information.
Do you think that Desire Pearl has the best beach then?

I have never been to Hidden Beach, so I can't comment on it. Pearl has a great beach, but the whole public aspect of it made us uncomfortable. I really don't want/need young kids/teens/families that are walking on the beach to see us naked. So although we are beach people, we did spend most of our time when at Pearl up at the pool because it was private.

When we go to Hedo we are always on the beach.

You do realize that the beaches in Jamaica are all public up to the high water line. We have seen couples with young kids walk through Hedo.

You are correct - as usual. When we are at Hedo we stay on the nude beach side where families get re-routed up through the lobby to continue on or they turn back. So we feel more comfortable being nude on the beach at Hedo than at Desire.

I found walking barefoot on the beach too uncomfortable. It's a pseudo beach.

We have sat in our hot tub Ocean View and have seen parents walking kids through from infant to under the age of 10. They get as far and Point Village and realize they can't go any further and then walk them back through Hedo's nude beach.

I have never seen a family or children yet at Hedo but I have noticed some fully clothed tourists doing a walkthru tour thru the nude pool area while we were in the pool. They headed on down to the beach from there.Weird.....

Keep in mind: parents and children from places other than North America (such as France, Spain, Germany etc.) are not generally fazed by the sight of naked or topless people on a beach -- it is quite normal and common. So walking, as a family, along a public beach (as at Hedo or Cancun) is OK, Normal, nothing to be concerned about etc.

If guests are upset at being seen naked on a beach, it is the guests' problem, not the family on a stroll along a beach.

Wherever you go (topless or naked) on a public beach, you can expect to be viewed by others. They may also feel it is their 'right' to carry and use a camera.

If you are shy about your nakedness, then wear a mask -- or shed the shyness.

Hidden Beach is a great resort but the beach is lacking. There is plenty of room to spread out on the lounges on the sand and work on your all-over tan but that's where your time on the beach will end. We wore sturdy water shoes and waded out into the ocean up to our knees. The ocean floor is very rough and sharp. Some cool colorful fish swam up to our feet but there was no way you could swim in the ocean at HBR. We had to go next door (textile resort so suits required) to swim in the ocean. We loved the vibe and service at HBR and will go back but it won't be for swimming in the ocean
