There's going to be a certain amount of risk any time you go nude in public. Even if a resort cracks down on blatant picture taking in the nude areas, if someone is hell bent on getting pics, they could try to sneak them... either right at the pool or beach, or from their own room, if its located poolside or ocean front.
When we were at Hedo this past summer, we didn't notice any obvious picture taking in the nude areas, but we also realized that we could be photographed without ever even knowing!
Bottom Line: If you have the type of occupation where someone seeing a nude picture of you could end your career, then you are definitely taking a gamble, however slight it may be. If someone ever sees one of us... We'll deny it and claim someone photoshopped us into the pic... Then we'll say "Man! We wish that WAS us! Looks like a lot of fun!!"
Honestly, if they saw that, then shame on them for not going to management to have it stopped.
EVERYTHING can "go wrong" -- if you don't try and correct it then you have no right to complain about it.
In fact, after reading that post, for the history of Hedo, there have been people talking photos on the nude side with others who are nude.. the ACTUAL protocol is that you are not supposed to do it with anyone in frame who does not consent to the photo..if that rule is followed the security was always mindful to have t he photographer be careful.
They always had a problem with secret photos and I believe that is still the case.
I've heard of more then 1 camera making a trip into the pool cuz the person was a jackass. Woops.

Thanks Cop.. for some of us, we are too famous in the real world for that to be a valid option
Of all the clothing optional resorts we have been to the camera situation at Hedo is easily the worst. I hope this was an isolated incident and not an indication that the new management is not concerned about inappropriate photos. Our careers are such that a Hedo photo popping up on the internet would be a problem. I realize it's a small risk but there's just no reason to be so inconsiderate of others to take a picture of someone without their permission, even if they are just in the background.
I have only used a camera on the nude side 4 times. Once I took pics of a couple for them out on the cove with the ocean in the background and no one was around. The second time was by our group sign by the hot tub - it was early day and we made sure no one was even close to us. The next one was a picture of all the bottles that were drank that day at the nude bar as they were closing and they were counting them - and I let everyone know that was there (about 12) that I was taking a camera out to take a picture of the bottles. The other time was 6am when not a sole was there and I took pictures of the are and of our sign over the nude bar. There are usually always exceptions to every rule, but there have to be considerations to others around. No one should EVER be the pictures that did not give permission to be in them. Then again, I feel that way about the whole resort, not just the nude side. If I take pics in the dining room we go off to the side so no one is around.
We just returned and I did see some camera use but mainly in the piano bar and dining room. There people were dressed, if you can call it that LOL. the one time I took a pic down at the nude beach I did so for another couple late in the day at sunset facing out toward the ocean and only of their feet on the raft. Security promptly told me to stop. I think the rules are loosely enforced and I hope they fix that going forward.
It's simply impossible to prevent everyone taking pictures of you.
Besides the behaviour mentioned above, of people blatantly photographing anyone and anything they feel like, there are more ways of being photographed without your consent (and even without you knowing). I've seen people with SLR's shooting from the ocean view side rooms onto the beach. Pretty difficult to spot if they close the curtains and turn off the light in the room...
Then there are cameras in almost every mobile phone, tablet and laptop, and even in some e-readers. I've seen more than a few of those around the nude beach these last couple of days. Then there are the hidden cameras, such as the ones built in watches, sun glasses, belt buckles, books and such (for sale at many Chinese webshops and probably ebay and such as well).
Yesterday we did a sunset photoshoot on the beach. Klara and I were standing at the water's edge at the neighbouring resort's beach, with our photographer standing with his back to the Hedo and his face (plus camera) towards us. I have counted at least a dozen cameras taking pictures of us (in all kinds of positions ;-) ), and maybe half of those also taking pictures of the sunset.
We don't mind, since there are no pictures taken of anything there that would damage our reputation, threathen our jobs or do worst, and we were clearly off the resort anyway. We also had announced it to the security guard before going there.
However, if I see a camera clearly pointed at us while we are on the nude beach or in the hot tub, without us being asked first, it will be ending with damage to the property and or the person holding that camera. That's mostly because throwing a waterproof and shockproof camera in the pool will do nothing to erase the pictures taken with it.
With my "el cheapo" pocket size camera with "zoom" feature I took a picture from the little pier at Sandals looking back toward Village Point Resort which is the green building next to the hot tub. That picture is now on a coffee mug and a Shutterfly photo album. You can sorta tell there are nude people in the photo but would not probably realize it unless you knew the building etc.My point is that people with a REAL camera with a good telephoto lens could get some great shots if they were so inclined. So wear your hat and sunglasses at all times!!
