Fees for late departure from resort

You are eating their food, drinking their booze and creating maintenance. Why wouldn't they charge?

I guess it would depend upon the situation.
In our case, we normally arrive around midnight on a Thursday, and leave in the early afternoon the Thursday after that.

So I'd be furious if anyone would charge us extra for staying at the resort while we had vacated our room in time (usually before noon).
After all, we didn't get a refund for the missed evening on the day of arrival despite the fact that we did pay the full charge for every day of the week we booked.
So yes, a charge would be ok *if* they would also refund us the much longer period of time we didn't get to use the resort, room, food, drinks, whatever but had to pay for anyway. :-)

The last couple of times we have used friend's rooms to store our valuables and get a shower before getting on the bus to the airport.
That's probably the approach we will take this upcoming trip again.
If anyone is stupid enough to try to make us pay extra while being there, I'd raise hell both at the resort and online and it would probably be our last trip there ever.
Luckily few people like to get into an argument with a 6'8" tall and muscular angry Dutchman... :-)

The all inclusives really don't seem so stingy about stuff like that. When the bus used to stop at every freaking resort between Hedo and Mo Bay, I used to jump off and run in and get a drink, they knew I wasn't staying there, but they always gave me a drink, and when I told them it was a long ride and I wanted a good stiff drink they let it flow.

That is awesome, lol. Back when we used to go to vanilla resorts (before we found Hedo) we were in the DR and walking around checking the place out (since there was nothing else to do, lol). Well we didn't realise that we had went to the resort next door (they were very close together) and we ordered a few drinks and wondered around. Didn't know the difference until we saw everyone else had different colored bracelets on. They really don't care for the little bit of food and drinks that a person uses.

I loved doing that! all the time with our crew on the way to H3.

Our travel agent has let us know they will not charge us this year, perhaps next time if we are staying past 2:00pm in the future they may charge us. We will see next year I guess.
