An overdue report from a couple of Hedo Newbies. Non Hedo life is very busy

We've been to Jamaica, including Negril, many times over the last 15 years. We've figured out how to deal with aggresive vendors in a way they understand and we can all enjoy. Plus we love the food, the music, and the laid back vibe of the place. When in Negril we usually either stay at Blue Cave Castle on the cliffs or Firefly in the middle of the beach. We've liked both places because no one seems to mind if we lie around naked and that is pretty high on our list when it comes to beach type vacations. This was our first trip to Jamaica in the summer (usually January - March). We originally scheduled for March but had to delay because of "stuff" that came up. We've been to Desire twice before and we have been/belonged to swing clubs. Swinging is pretty low on our priority list now but we do enjoy the atmosphere and hey, sometimes the stars align

We've been using the same driver for the last 10 years. He picks us up at the airport and takes us back when its time to leave. We tried a bus once when we stayed at Runaway Bay but its not for us. We enjoy leaving right away, picking up a cold six and whatever else we want for the drive and chilaxing after the long flight from Canada. On the way back we sometimes stop and buy last minute things we had forgotten to get during our stay. $120 round trip (up from $100 last trip).

This year we spent three nights 08/02 - 08/05 at Firefly. Very friendly people as always. Not sure if its the time of year or if things have changed but don't think we'll be back for a while. We had a nice oceanview penthouse suite but it was definitely getting dated. There used to be more or less open fields either side of the hotel but now there is a very loud seadoo rental on one side and the smell of refueling and the sound of those boats all day wore on us. The beach has always had a moving party every night (since we've been going) with a loud PA that gets started fairly late and continues into the small numbers. This trip we were blessed with having it close to our hotel on two nights, plus competing parties one night. By loud I mean our furniture was shaking and I was very surprised that the windows didn't break the way they were vibrating. It was Jamaican Independence Day week so that might have been the reason for the extra loud bass. We're early risers but we tried to find the humour in it. Still, we enjoyed beach life and visited many of the restaurants along the road where the Jamaicans go to eat (and where the best jerk is).

Jamaica in the summer can be freakin humid! By the time we got to Hedo on the 5th, with our scuba gear and luggage (we had been on the road in Canada for a week before we got to Jamaica - work/vacation) we were pretty soked. Everyone at Hedo was fantasic and efficient (what??? it's Jamaica??). A couple of cold drinks to get started. A brief tour on route to our room. Bags to the room quickly - 2274(?) - OV upstairs, 2nd block from the naked pool

Strip down to shorts for a visit to the dive desk and to scope things out, then to the pool to get naked. Well... what do you know. 1pm in the afternoon and the pool sex is in full swing. A lovely little threesome here, a few couples there, a group doing body shots (I think there were shots involved - maybe just taking turns doing oral). So that pretty much set the stage for the balance of our trip. There was sex at and in the pool and hottub and surrounding deck every day but defintely some days more than others. Thats where we hung most of the day.

We ate at all the restaurants. Only once at Harry San as we didn't really enjoy the items. The italian was very nice. The buffet was always fine with something we enjoyed every night. And, while they were available, we grabbed patties from the nude grill. Lobster night was the best. We thought the food was really quite good compared to many resorts we have stayed at including Desire. Not a huge difference from Desire but Desire Rivierra is a much smaller resort and there seemed to be more quality options at Hedo. Of course, there was the dead rat beside our breakfast table one morning.

We dove twice almost every day. The dive staff were really fantastic and once I agreed not to actually sign us up for two dives a day they were happy to take us out on two - I think it was Grantley who took me into the back and showed me the sign that said ONLY ONE DIVE PER DAY. The diving was okay. They kept things fairly short and there was a very long interval between the 2 dives. The staff really were the best part. The new dive boat is still anchored in the bay... unused. The boat we used had rails along the sides so you have to waddle to the back one at a time to roll in.

We had four or three days where it was super humid and hot in the mornings followed by a torrential downpour mid day followed by much more comfortable weather. We went for a massage one of those days and really enjoyed it. They will accommodate you with the level of forcefullnes in their touch but apparantly they don't supply the happy endings

We worked it out ourselves later. A lovely way to spend a rainy afternoon.

We brought costumes for many of the evenings and were surprised how hit and miss the costume participation was. It felt like the resort was 30/40% full so that might have been part of it. (Speaking of which, pretty sure we would never get a pool lounger if the resort were full - it must be PACKED at the nude pool in January). The evening shows were generally good quality - some were really quite fantastic. Others a bit amatuerish. But mostly fantastic. Disco was empty whenever we checked it out (we were never up past 12:30) but the Piano bar was often full - get there early if you want a seat near Kemar. Piano bar was fine except to see the same staff ladies take up the first hour of the show every night and sing badly was not great. If they were professonal quality sure, but any of the guests can sing badly so why fill it up with staff? Many guests seemed to enjoy it - maybe a day of free booze does that?

The room was clean with no major problems although clearly in need of refurbishment. Everything worked except the safe and we couldn't be bothered to call anyone for that. We really liked being able to open the big window in the morning and enjoy the ocean view and breeze. Wished there was a balcony. Mid way through our stay they began to empty out the other rooms in our block - like REALLY empty. Everything down to bare walls including all the fixtures. By the end of our stay I am pretty sure we were the last to go - on with the revolution!

We met so many fantastic people. That was the best part of the trip. I would find a volleyball by the nude pool and we would start tossing it around an before you know it there's a pile of us having fun. For us, we really needed to recharge our batteries this trip so we were pretty quiet mostly. We hung to the loungers and drank. We might have seemed a bit standoffish to some, or god forbid even a bit SHY! But we've had some crazy times lately so really needed the quiet of the pool and piano bar

Seriously, we had a great time reconnecting with each other and really did enjoy the wonderful couples we met. We had sex whenever and wherever we wanted. We wandered in for food as needed. And we made friends.

A few comments in comparison to Desire Rivierra...
These are very different places. DR is much smaller and there is much less to do nearby (i.e. diving). The ECs at DR are amazing (they're good at Hedo but just not THAT good). The sex at DR is much more contained to evening by the hotub and in the disco/playroom area. That is actually a pretty amazing part of DR but we really enjoyed being able to lounge around the pool, get turned on, and deal with it right there - maybe even grab another drink while at it

Hedo should get a playroom - hell, turn the gym into a playroom! We've always enjoyed that it was just couples at DR and many are swingers so lots of FF, FMF, MFM, etc to goggle. We were surprised to see how much fun the single guys brought to the atmosphere at Hedo - it's awesome to watch the players, make bets, and then see them get lucky! There were a few creepy guys. Some drunk men "bumping" into women in the pool, and a few near testosterone fueled fights that we couldn't image seeing at desire. DR has always had sort of a stuck up feel to it. That's not quite right because everyone is so nice but they definitely seem to want to be the high end Schmanzy nude adult resort. I think they actually started sending out emails telling people how to dress up for dinner! The restaurants at DR are definitely Schmanzy looking but the food and drinks weren't better. We have been at DR during peak times and there is still room in the pool and hottub for everyone and no problem getting a drink. I am struggling with how that would work at Hedo during peak times. All in, Hedo seems more "fun sexy party all the time" and DR seems more subtle - "cool adult nude resort by day, crazy sex club by night"
