I highly recommend the sunset cruise to Rick's and the snorkeling cruise we try and do them both every year. Also there's a beach close to the resort where they cook fresh Lobsters with sides and you can negotiate the price down to $20 per plate. It's called Science of Nature, it's basically a beach bar area with tents near selling all types of local things, the food was the best I've ever had in Jamaica and we've been 5 times.

I love the Rock House, it's right along with Xtabi which is wonderful and Push Cart (the former Pirates Cove) with a huge view. The cliffs are a fun night out, bring clothes, go to Rick's early, swim, jump and if you survive (35' honest feet) change and go down to any of those restaurants and that's a good day out. Your cabbie ,will drop you off and leave his cell number, when you need him he'll be there in a few minutes, just negotiate the price up front and if you beat them up make sure you tip them v well. Just how it works, LOL.

    Cheers

Excellent recommendations. Seems as though there is consensus on Rick's and Push Cart, D. Falls. We would really enjoy the lobster on the beach. We will look for that. We will leave a day for this but will plan that once we get on site and let Hedo activites dictate exactly when we venture out. Thanks again everyone. Nothing like asking the pros and making the most of a trip.

Dun's river falls is the other side of the island. I have done Mayfield Falls near Negril. Easy half day trip, and very fun.

-Walked the entire beach one morning, top to bottom, cabbed it back.
-Visited a school one year and brought donations.
-Took a private cab to the otherside of the island, took all day and we stopped wherever we wanted to.
-Attended church services. (That was worth getting dressed up for)
-Bla Bla Bla,....Ricks. But walked outside of it and went to where the divers jump off, that's a great view.
-Stopped and helped an older gentleman change his tire on the side of the road.
-Got a haircut from a Jamaican barber, downtown Negril.
-Walked down to see the people waiting in line to get into the ATI Parties. (That was worth it too)!
-Just a few things, we've done over the years...

It boils down to getting off of the resort basically for us. I can go a day without drinking and lying around. I can sacrifice a day to help someone/learn something. Would rather pay locals for goods and services than the tourist traps.

It's called Office of Nature. You should know that lobster season is closed April1st to June 30th. Locals can sell lobster for 3 weeks after April 1st. If you are caught with lobster after that 3 weeks...even in your freezer...it carries a big fine and possible jail time.

We also endorse the zip line. We went horse-back riding (no, on real horses) but it was rather warm and at the same time of year as your trip. Horses were in good shape, though.

How do you get to the Office of Nature?
Cab, or walk down the beach?

Check out jujutours.com. They are THE BEST, Jamaican tour guide who takes one or two couples to a whole list of possible places, or you can pick something else. I simply cannot recommend them highly enough.
