Heading to Desire for the first time in June. Any input would be appreciated. Went to Hedo last October and had a blast. We heard great things about Desire R/M.

Good call. In our opinion making the transition from Hedo to Desire was like going from a Comfort Inn to a Westin. The quality of the rooms, hotel, and food is night and day.

A few things to note:
- Bring some money to tip bar staff. There isn't a swim-up bar at Desire RM so everything by the pool/ocean is through service. If you don't tip you'll still get served, but those that do tip will get better service.
- "Playing" in public is strictly confined to the hot-tub and playroom in the disco. Although there isn't a lot of pass-through traffic on the beach, because it's technically public they have to enforce no playing on the palapas. Speaking from experience on that one (oops).

We will be at Desire Pearl (a short cab ride from Desire RM) 5/23 - 28. Our first trip to this type of resort. We plan to check out Desire RM while we are there.

Thanks for your post about about Desire. You hit on two of the things I was curious about. I had concerns that the beach is public. From you post, it sounds as though that is not a huge concern. Secondly, did you tip in US dollars or do I need to exchange currency at the airport? Thanks again for your input.

We were at Desire Pearl last August. The place is awesome! The pool & hot tub rock!!

We tipped with US currency through most of the week... Then when we got more money out of the ATM later in the week, we had to get smaller bills for the 20's... They were low on US at the time so we got various denominations of pesos.

They were more than grateful to receive either.

By the way... We didn't see many beach walkers at all during our week.

We have been to Hedo twice, and loved it (miss H3 so damn much) - still looking forward to going back but we wanted to try something new to see what else was out there. Night before last we booked our first trip to Desire R/M!! The place looks amazing, and like it has a different but still sexy and fun vibe. We will be there 10/19 - 10/26. The forums mentioned by Indulgent_Cpl has a ton of information. As an example, we learned that we get free access to Desire Pearl, and are planning on stopping by to check it out while at R/M. Look forward to seeing a trip report from you when you return - Have Fun and Play Hard ; )

Hello. My wife and I were jut at Desire RM two months ago and it is fantastic!!! Clean, fun, terrific food and very sexy!! I agree that the beach is very nice with very little public walk through. We walked the entire beach walk to check out Pearl (45 min walking...cabbed back) and that is very nice too. Desire is just so darn sexy!!! The social evening entertainment is fun before you hit the disco (opened 10:00 pm to 3:00 am) I agree tipping (US currency) is greatly appreciated so bring $5. Not every drink or service. Just once to the girl or guy feeding you pool or beach drinks. The roof top sexy fun and sin room is everything you want to make of it Have fun!!!

We went to Desire RM last month and I could say it was an amazing experience. We really had a great time there. The services were fantastic with great people, beautiful beach and such a wonderful place to stay. For sure, you will have fun as well. Enjoy!
