Hi all
The Brits are heading back ‘home’ to Jamaica April 20 to May 5.
There’s been much comment and speculation on how the new owners of Hedo are going to spend the $10m improvement budget and I guess they’ll be some major projects such as room refurbishments on the agenda.
But, aside from the big capital outlay projects, in the hope that the new owners may read this forum from time to time, I like to add 5 things which I’d like to suggest would improve Hedo at minimal cost:
1. Put a couple of beds in the nude area. By beds, I mean similar to the 4 beds that are by the prude beach bar or the few that at near the gym/disco. Picture the scene, middle of the afternoon, you’ve had enough sun, feeling a little frisky. Would be great to take your partner (or someone else’s!) onto one of those beds. Those that do remember Hedo III will recall a couple of beds at the back of the nude pool near the sauna (yes, I know, sauna???...in Jamaica???). Obviously they couldn’t be built on the beach due to the gawkers on the tourist boats but a clearing in the wooded area behind the last accommodation block could be made, which would be ideal, discrete but a little exhibitionistic.
2. Beer tap. Sometimes I just want my red stripe at the nude pool and I’m waiting in line for 20 minutes, behind a dozen different cocktail orders. So install a beer tap for customers to use. Anyone can pull a beer. Frees up Bartenders time so can then get on with what they do best – dirty bananas, hummingbirds etc
3. Bar stools. My good lady looks a million dollars in her sexy dress and high heels when we walk to the main bar in the evening. 10 minutes later, her feet are killing her and she wants to sit down. Solution, put some bar stools around the bar, if only on the side furthest from the stage area. Could also be put adjacent to the area near the pool (although I recognise the ledge may have to be built up to avoid glassware accidently being knocked into the pool).
4. Prude beach bar. Lovely little bar that closes at 6pm. Why?
I’ll admit, I’m not a huge fan of the evening stage shows. It’s not that they’re bad in anyway. The EC’s do a great job, it’s just that I’ve seen them, many times. It would be great after dinner to have the option of heading down to the prude beach bar for an hour or so of quiet conversation before hitting the piano bar.
5. Blue Mahoe Spa. We were at Hedo a couple of years ago when one of the Groups in residence arranged for the Spa to be open at night. Mattresses were laid out and lighting subdued. Became a great spot for voyeurs, exhibitionists and swingers, but with no pressure on anyone to go beyond their boundaries. Would be great to see that happen again. It doesn’t have to be every night, maybe just a couple of times a week so that it’s something different from the piano bar, disco, hot tub routine.
Anyway, I’ll climb down from my soapbox now. I’m sure people will have other suggestions as to how the resort can be improved for them.
Looking forward to meeting friends, new and old, in 5 weeks time, especially a peachy girl from………..well, if you’re reading this, you know where.
