The Copacabana is Ok, We were there 2 yrs ago. Only two other couples there when we were there. They only had once nice suite when we were there. The other rooms are very run down and the a/c barley worked. The hotel also brings in single guys to stay at the hotel and escorts are brought in every night for them. The one thing we loved was the food, best resort food we have ever had. Costa Rica is a great place to visit, next time we will go with a few couples and rent a private house.

Any other questions just PM us.

We went. We won't be back.

Lots of construction while we were there. Needs some TLC.

The resort was not 100% nude. The nude side has some "tennis netting" up to keep out the lookers that are on the the prude side. We could see the construction workers walking by and they could see us.

The big pool (Prude only) looked nice but there was us and one other day pass couple there.

Unless there is some sort of travel group with a "takeover." We would not even consider going back. Jaco also has really crappy beaches. Lots of trash.

The food and drinks were good but the experience overall was not.

We went there last year. We were in the big suite. There's only one, but it's pretty nice. The other rooms alongside the main pool did look rundown and we never got a look at the Oceanside rooms. The food was FANTASTIC! If you do go there, try their ceviche---it's delicious! On the down side, there weren't that many people at the resort when we were there. If you're looking for a real party place, you might want to pass. The beach at the resort is so-so. No real swimming there. It tended to be quite "pebbley", so rough on the feet. BUT, the country of Costa Rica is gorgeous! I would move there in a heartbeat, it's that beautiful. We felt safe (in our limited experience). We were going to go back to CR but instead, this year, we are going to try out Hedo II. Since it's a much larger resort we're thinking it will have a lot more going on.

We are going in July 2014- there has been an extensive remodel from what we have read and been told. Looking forward to the change of scenery. Last year's trip to temptation Cancun was nice, but the lack of nudity was kind of a bummer and the security people were overbearing. For essentially the same price we are willing to check out somewhere new. Aside from those things, we are really looking forward to an awesome experience in the eco-parks as well. Understand there is some world class rain forest and zipline there. We of course will provide a trip report- though it's a long way off.

We've been looking into the Copacabana too (never been to Costa Rica). It sounds like promising changes have been happening, but it still seems like a place that would be better to travel to with a group. Does anyone know of any travel groups/companies that do trips there?

We have heard a lot of good things about Copacabana recently. So, we booked our trip for November 13th to the 22nd, 2014. Looking forward to trying a new resort as we found Temptations a bit too cliquey. We are looking forward to the escape from frigid Canada!

We are planning a trip to Costa Rica in July, and are thinking about staying several days at the Copacabana Desire Hotel. It's hard finding much information about it though. Most of what I've found is on Tripadvisor. Does anyone here have any recent feedback? They don't show a group on their calendar right now during the days we're considering (July 6-11). We'll be in country on the 1st, but there's a group called "Chocolate Couples" there until the 5th. Don't have a problem with that group, but we feel we may not fit in.

We've been to Hedo II 6 times with the old DennyP group and with the Fluffernutters, so we're not virgins.

Yeah, please update after your trip. We went ahead and booked July 6-11. I doubt that your review will change anything for us, but hopefully between us we can enlighten others.

The Copacabana Desire Hotel and Suites is not good. The hotel grounds are in bad repair. They have some nicely updated rooms and the staff is nice. Food was good, drinks were weak -- and anything other than the cheap stuff was an extra charge. We had a third floor junior suite with a Jacuzzi, and while updated, it was pretty small. Some of the lights in the hallway weren't working. The mattress had stains that you could see when the bottom sheet pulled off (but was comfortable). Our bottom sheet the first night had a cigarette burn hole.
Worst thing -- no people. We were there in July and one night there was one other couple and two single guys and another night just us and one single guy. Some Costa Rican swingers came Saturday night, but were in their own clique, and left the next morning. There was no nightly entertainment. The place was dead, and because of that, I would never go back unless with a group. Even then I'd have to think about it.

We are on the West Coast and have been to Costa Rica with a group twice, and we are going back next April for a Takeover of Hotel Nine (costaricalifestyletakeover.com). We looked at doing a Takeover at Copacabana but we need over 40 couples to fill it so we decide to do a small Takever in 2017 and try for a bigger Takeover in 2018.

I think Copacabana is a good venue for a full takeover, especially after all the renovations they have done and will continue to do. I don't think it is suitable for an individual lifestyle vacation if the place isn't full. Jaco is a nice city and Costa Rica in general is amazing so it is a good option other than Desire and Hedo.

I've been 3 times;August,Feb, May last year. We really like the place. I'm talking the Jaco beach resort. The related hotel in San Jose I am told is lousy. Rooms are decent, food excellent. We took the pay as you go option since we're not big drinkers. We just ran a tab and paid when we left. The grounds are quite lush and beautiful.

Prostitution is legal in CR and 3-6 girls show up at happy hour. They dress casual;jeans and t-shirt not slutty. They don't bother anybody and leave within 30 minutes either alone or with a man.

The place is as shown on web site. I'd recommend 2nd floor near stairs. There is a big bar next door that has a party on Wednesday.that can be loud.

The office can book tours and cabs. Very helpful.

The owner is OK about PDA's. I've seen action on every trip; near rooms/outside, rear pool. You have to dress in the dining room but every where else is clothing optional.
Guests are 30-70 yrs. Not a party place unless you make one! I'd recommend
