Oh, hats off to Todd, Elena, Sherry, etc for throwing an awesome party with the Lovevoodoo group. We had a blast partying with them. We will be back next year with our group.

Ill jump in here with what I would pay for,and we do travel a lot so I have been to many all inclusive resorts all over the world.there is something to be said for expectations. And when you are dropping 400 - 600 a night for a couple you should have some.
Transportation should be covered...this resort isn't around the corner and for someone that hasn't been, to get off the plane and then have to very first thing go outside and work out the hour and half drive...could be nerve racking.
Towels..included..even if they do the towel card like a lot of hotels you just end up grabing two to turn right? Then everyone ends up short toweled.
High end booze....I see this a some resorts at dinner and such, can't see where they make much off of
it. But at the bar it's a all inclusive hotel.
Diving I'm surprised hedo includes this. Most inclusive don't...super inclusives do,I would not rate hedo as a super because of the facilities ect.
Their rates are already up there with other inclusives resorts so at this time can't see a increase in nightly rates. I see it coming.
I agree Phillygirl
I agree that nothing compares to the clothing optional party atmosphere, and Hedo is unique for that (we have been to H3 4 times and H2 5 times). We recently went to an adults only all inclusive in the DR that was about 60% the price of Hedo and the rooms, food, and beach were phenomenal. We were not "in bed at 10" because we went to the nightly shows, casino, and disco, although as previously said, the atmosphere was nowhere near a Hedo and people were not as friendly, etc. We have been saving our pennies all year to return to Hedo next March with our Amigos, but honestly, have reached the point where we are starting to wonder if the $$$ of Hedo is justifiable.
So for me, the answer to the question on this thread about what you would pay for, the answer is, honestly and regrettably, would not pay more.
Laura
One in Punta Cana, one in Perto Plata and Desire in Mexico. And what I was saying about other resorts not comparing is the atmosphere, not the resort itself. I am in love with Hedo and I just find there is no other resort that I have been to that can even come close to comparing as far as the way Hedo is. It just does something to you and I love it!
Enough to know I love the place

I just looked up rates for the five similar resorts that I am aware of. These are directly from the resorts website for one week in June when we normally go, they could go up or down and deals are probably available, I just wanted an apples to apples comparison.
1984.00 Desire Los Cabos cheapest room
2340.00 Hedo cheapest room
2695.00 Caliente Caribe cheapest room
2945.00 Desire Pearl cheapest room
3668.00 Desire Riviera Maya cheapest available room
From where I am in Michigan flights to Jamaica or Cancun are nearly identical in cost at about $550 each RT, Los Cabos is about $700 each, and I haven't found a decent flight to DR for under $1000.
Where are these resorts that are WAY cheaper than Hedo? Maybe it's just because of where I am but the bottom line for me comes out the same for the cheap resorts and for the same cost I'm going to Hedo.
H3 - July 2010
H2 - June 2011
H2 - June 16-24 2012
Do you want to pay for an airport shuttle? I'll pay for a shuttle but want low group rates on the cost
-Do you want to pay for diving? don't dive, but like the snorkeling trips
-Extra for premium liquor? no
-For towels? absolutely not
-If they raise their rates will they price themselves out of the market with so many other resorts opening to compete with them? yes
-Is it realistic of us to expect the new owners to invest money without raising rates or removing services? Yes, it is realistic to expect the rates to stay the same. Maintenance and upkeep are the cost of doing business. The resort is in need of some TLC and services and supplies need to be brought up to par.

We have been to Hedo 4 times, and have sprinkled a few trips to other resorts in the Dominican in between. As Mac r a said, there really is no there place like Hedo, so it does become very difficult to compare. Paying for your transfer to the hotel; although included in every other resort to which we have travelled, is no big deal in the big scheme of things. Towels? No question; should be included. Diving and premium liquor; to me (although not a diver) is part of the Hedo experience ( the premium liquor I mean), and it makes up for a lot of the resort's shortcomings in other areas (no fridges in the rooms, old and sometimes not working amenities, etc). I always kind of felt like they should be using premium liquor; they are certainly not spending the money on keeping the resort in good repair. Would we pay more to keep these things; ABSOLUTELY NOT! It's our struggle with the overall cost that has kept Hedo from being our destination everytime we head south. Granted, cost can vary dramatically depending where you are travelling from, but it is hard to justify paying almost ( but not quite) double for 1 wk at Hedo then we've paid for 2 wks in DR.
Hedo is a unique place that obviously is very dear to some of our hearts. I would pay an extra 10% if rooms could have a makeover, food choices were the same regardless of occupancy (just make less of the same dishes), convert to flat screen tvs on the wall so I don't hit my head, never run out of decent booze!, other than that I'm usually pretty happy! I'm actually looking forward to booking a taxi as the last time we went we waited forevever on the shuttle for some people that never showed up.
Tell ya what Hedonism 3 was worth every penny we spent there. Always got good value, really think they closed the wrong one though.
