Looking for near by Hedo Hotel info

So were looking to go to Hedo in January.Looking at the availability of flights/cost departure times we may want to fly to Jamaica a day early and maybe get in around 6pm on a Thursday. So our question isoes anyone know of a inexpensive hotel close by Hedo that we could spend a night at and head to Hedo next morning? We find it hard to justify paying $200 pp and only getting to the resort around 9 pm.It doesn't need to be fancy or have any sevices, just a place to lay our heads for a nights rest.

I know a lot of people that go to resorts in Montego Bay. They say they are great and if it's just for crashing then that might be the ticket. Not sure names but there supposedly a bunch.

And yes we told them we were on our way to Sandles in Negril.

We did this exact same thing last year and it worked out great. we got a great deal on a flight that got us in to MoBay the night before. We took a tip from Keystone and stayed at Toby's Resort. It was a nice, clean place and not too expensive. Like you mention, it was dark when we got there so it didn't really matter to us what it looked like, but it was nice. Plus there were a couple small bars near by to grab a few Red Stripes for the night. With the new shuttle policy, you'll want to get your ride set up before hand. We were able to be picked up at 8:00am and were able to be at Hedo in time to still get breakfast. It was awesome! One recommendation is that when you are at the MoBay airport, check with the cabbies how much the ride would be to Ron's. It is just a five minute drive, but he charged us $30. The prices for Toby's appear to be all over the place on the internet.

We have done this many times both on the arrival and departure side. We have stayed at Toby's, Doc Caves and The Wexford in MoBay. I would recommend Doc Caves as it is located in the middle of the Hip Strip and easy access to everything there. We have also gone to Negril first and stayed a night there before Hedo, well actually two at the Rock House. There are many hotels located in Negril for you to chose from...but I would suggest MoBay as it is a five minute drive from the airport and you can chill that much faster from your day of travel and there are many more places to hang out that evening. If you really want to do Negril instead, check out the forum at Negril.com, lots of info there on the smaller hotels both on the beach and the cliffs.

When you get in that late it is not worth the price to stay at Hedo and as the others have stated Montego Bay seems to be a good choice for the first night. I liked Toby's and have stayed there a half dozen times, price was about $80.00 bucks and the rooms are clean and quite.
They have a small bar , pool table , and a restaurant on premise too. Every time the food was really good.
I always checked in with the Superclubs desk and had them get me a taxi over to Toby's , always $ 10.00, and then arranged to have the bus pick me up there. Not to sure how it would work now with new transport system.
Doc's cave is nice too , and as Facedown said it is on the hipstrip which is the main drag in Montego Bay.Bars and shopping. Toby"s is just down the street and walkable to the strip.

Hey SunnySide - we will be at Xtabi on the cliffs in Negril for Jan 16th & 17th and heading to Hedo for breakfast on the 18th. We have done this once before and it worked out so well...well, we are doing it again. Xtabi is reasonably prices, has it's own restaurant and bar and the sunset is unbelievable. If you want anymore information send us a message. We could enjoy dinner together under the stars when you arrive!

We've done this twice. Once we stayed at Toby's in Montego Bay, which was fine, but boring. We got there in the afternoon and walked around the hip strip, but were really turned off by the constant onslaught of locals trying to sell us anything and everything. By the time night came, we were over the hip strip, so we ate dinner at the hotel and crashed early. Both woke up in the middle of the night, wide awake and too excited about getting to Hedo to sleep. So it was okay, and relatively inexpensive, but no great shakes.

The next time, we decided to just go to Negril and spend a night there. We liked this option better. We stayed at a little botique hotel on seven mile beach called "Our Past Time Villas" You can easily find it online. The hotel is JUST on the other side of sandals, so it's an easy walk on the beach (without luggage) or on the road (with luggage) to Hedo. Course the owners wouldn't hear of that, so they drove us (without charge) the 3 minutes over to the front gates. We prefered staying in Negril cuz at that point we felt like we were really *almost* home, and we were also right there on the beach. There's wasn't much to do there at night either, but we had a very nice dinner there at the resort and walked the beach a bit. (We couldn't bear to walk over to Hedo and not be legal guests.... so we didn't!) I woke up in the middle of the night here as well, because I was so excited about going to Hedo in the morning, but at least at this place I was able to walk out onto the balcony and look at the water while I was wide awake!

I don't remember exactly, but I think staying in Negril was a little more expensive..... but not that much more. It was worth it, from my point of view.

So there's a few different schools of thought for ya.

There are lots of little hotels on the beach in Negril you can stay at. BarB-Barn has a great deal for dinner and a night's stay and it is comfortable...plus the beach is so much more gorgeous down towards town than it is at Hedo. Anyway....there are PLENTY of places in Negril to stay ... we do it all the time, but for longer. I suggest you take a look at www.onestopva.com and see their Negril, beach section. You can take a look there and see what prices are. I suggest staying at one of the places more towards town (it's all a short drive back to Hedo)...there are more restaurants and bars and you can walk on the beach and check things out a bit...it's fun & so pretty. I'd also arrange for a taxi beforehand and they can help you with that. Bob & Susan who run One Stop are great folks, we've worked with them many times over the years. You also get a discount card for booking with them which is good at some bars and restaurants and shops in town. Great deal!! Go for it and please do tell them that Chris & Liz sent you. Have fun & let us know where you stay!

Rondels is real nice and cheap mid beach, but a lot of places require a three day minimum stay if you book online, but I bet if you call them you might be able to book a single night depending on you arrival day.
