Best Beach NY/NJ/CT

I live in CT and am looking for the best beach for a family day. I have been to most of the beaches in CT (Sherwood Island, Ocean Beach Park, Lighthouse Point Park), and in NY(Orchard, Oakland, Rockaway, Jones), not so much in NJ. Atlantic City and Jenkinsons would comprise that list. I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old. A beach side pool would be nice, as would a boardwalk. If fishing were available, either from the sand, or a pier adjoining, would be ideal, not necessary. I am NOT looking to recreate the MTV "Jersey Shore" theme, more family friendly than fake boobs, fake tans and loud music. Would even consider Rhode Island! Thanks in advance!

Gunnison Nude Beach in Northern New Jersey.
It's in Sandy Hook National Park.
Alcohol is allowed, just no glass containers.

If you are looking for a clothed beach, try Misquamicut in Westerly RI, right over the CT border. That is where we go to when we want to hit a beach. No pool or boardwalk and too many people to fish from the beach. There is a pavilion where you can get some food and drinks. The last place I saw with a public pool adjacent to the beach was Asbury Park NJ.
