I think people should be a little more careful in confusing negativity and honesty. In our 9 trips we have done 9 trip reports. Every trip until last year was absolutely positive because our experience, including the condition of the resort, the food, and other things we look for in a vacation, were positive. While our latest trip report has taken a small amount of heat for our gripes- really small honestly I understand people's loyalty to the place and it can hurt sometimes when people aren't as in love with it as they are- I have also received nearly a dozen emails from people who have read it and agree entirely but did not want to post it in some cases for fear of being flamed and thanked us for our honesty in the report.
I get it- it's not about the resort, it's about the people. That said, if you could take those same people somewhere nicer for the same money, or even a little less, why wouldn't you?
Some people say it's about doing whatever the F you want for a week and I get that too, but as someone who is married to someone who lets me do pretty much everything I want to anyway that argument doesn't really hold any sway for me either.
We fell in love with hedo and the concept, the freedom, and the indulgence of it in 2003. I guess with the decline of the resort, the nickel and diming, and the bad experiences we have had that kind of went away. As unfortunate as us not returning sounds, we truly are looking forward to new places. Lots of islands, resorts, and sights to be seen besides Jamaica.
We do honestly hope that in a year things have changed, and we look forward to hearing those reports of how things have gotten exponentially better in that time.
Cheers!
