Ground or air from Montego Bay?

We are getting in on a 7pm flight and we read on here that ride to Hedo is anywhere from a little over an hour to two hours on the SC bus. We are considering flying via TimAir but if a taxi can get us there in under an hour I'd lean that way to save money. So I guess the question is: How much would a taxi to Hedo cost from Montego Bay? And is it faster than the SC ride? I already priced TimAir, 120.00 per person one way.

The ride from Montego Bay is about 2 hours, sometimes a little longer sometimes a little shorter. We usually fly when arriving to Negril, from the airport in Negril it is about a $5 cab ride. Flying will see you in Negril in about 12 minutes. Hope this helps.

    Cheers,

A taxi from the airport in montego bay will cost around 80 bucks one way. It will get you to the resort in just about an hr.

after trying different methods of arriving at Hedo, we found on the way there, a taxi for the price doesn't really save any time...and we'd rather be social with fellow travellers than get in 15 min. earlier and save the $80 for an excursion. On the other hand...the plane ride is fun, gets you there super quick, and start the vacation at least an hour before bus travellers. So now we do Tim Air on the way and the bus back to the airport.

We saw Ed and Laurie in the superclubs lounge at MBJ when we arrived this year. As we departed to load into our taxi they were leaving for the timair terminal. As we finished signing in at H2 they came pulling up in their taxi from the aerodrome. Seems it wasn't any quicker.

Also, TimAir won't fly when it begins to get dark.

Thanks for all the feedback guys! Upon comparing prices, figuring out times and distances we have decided to just ride the SC bus. Plus, TimAir just emailed saying that we get in too late to catch a plane to Negril, lol.

we did air link last week, 104$ per person, and 5 dollar taxi ride from negril airport to hedo. it was fun, if we go back to hedo, we will do it again, took the bus back to the airport though, no hurry to get there.

We always take Tim to the resort and bus back. Fortunately we have always beaten the bus riders As Joe said Tim does not fly after dark, one trip we were delayed a couple of hours leaving from home and by the time we arrived an Mo Bay it was too late to fly, I believe they will not fly any later than 45 minutes before sunset so it is unlikely you willl arrive in time to use Tim. That said we have also arrived in the early evening and have taken a cab the fastest was under an hour. The traffic in Mo Bay an dLucia (worst 2 spots) will not be bad when you are going so it should not take more than 1.5 hours to get to the resort with the bus. Have a great trip.

We have only taken the SC bus and it was a decent ride. I enjoyed checking out the country side on the ride to the resort. I think it only took us about an hour and a half TOPS to get to the Hedo.

We have been using tim air for many years. We have found if you make reservations with them a week before you fly down they will have a plane waiting for you when you land. Last trip it was 40 minutes from SC lounge to Hedo front desk using Tim Air.

You're right that Tim doesn't fly after dark. We used to fly before the roads were fixed. Now we consider the bus ride part of the fun. If you were traveling with me, I'd insist on the saving the money, taking the bus, sitting back, grabbing a red stripe (or two or three) , enjoying the ride and enjoying the experience!
