advantages of booking with a group

Just wondering if you all think there are any advantages/disadvantages of booking with a group. Prices seem to be the same on travel websites.

Benefits as I see them:
Yes, pricing should be better with a group or with an agent that is booking that group. They have the deal on the block of rooms.
But the best part is that you usually get to meet them online ahead of time through a forum and or chat room.
That makes the first face to face a little easier.

we agree with scuba steve, the first year we did not book with a group per se, but met them on here after we already paid with a travel agency, well, they took us in,(thanks kitten and angel group) and it was great, we had "friends"before we even got down there. that groups dates dont work for us anymore, so we found awol, and LOVED that group, we have also gone with lovevoodoo. this year going back with awol, and the group has chats twice a week, and different activities planned. but really, best of all is getting to hedo and having someone waiting for you in the lobby, happy you are there. our first trip with awol, the poor leaders sat and waited and waited for us to get there, our plane was late, but they were there none the less, and that was just awesome.

There are many benefits and no real down sides to it (in my opinion). You get great pricing, have someone on site if there are any problems, a lot of them host private events, many have private forums and chats, and also if the group doesn't work for you, you don't have to join there events on site and you can do your own thing. It is your vacation.

That's because you're awesome D and B... we don't wait for everyone you know.. ok yeah we try to.. but we REALLY wanted to be there when you got there!
