Do you think a couple who had only ever been to Temptation would find Caribe to be a good choice?

Last time I was to the DR (5 years ago) you could smoke in all buildings and even the airport, which was odd considering we are from Canada and can't smoke anywhere. So yes, if you do not snoke it would be worse then Hedo probably.

Even Europe has come around on this. Of course, now non-smokers can't enjoy eating outside.... But around here, I've seen restaurants just eliminate it all together! Its awesome!

My dream: if you can't quit, at least patch it or e-cig it around others. So much better for all: you don't smell, I don't get a headache or potentially die... It's a win-win!

We went in March of this year and didn't have a problem with people smoking. My wife and I are both sensitive to cig smoke and I don't recall it ever being a real issue. The few times people smoked around us, we simply moved upwind and everyone who smoked was very gracious about it. The term "open ashtray" is truly overblown.

We had a GREAT time. The beach is beautiful and the food is great - ESPECIALLY the "Dominican Lunch" that is served at the Tiki Hut every day but dinners were excellent as well. The staff are really great with only one or two "clunkers" in the mix. Smiles all around and quick service - none of the Hedo, "Ja, Mon...soon come..." and then you never see it BS. We plan on going back.
