Post How far ahead do you book your airfare?

Just curious to see when everyone is booking their airfare?

How long before your trip do you book?

    1 Month,
    2 Months.
    3 Months.
    4 Months.
    5 Months.
    6 Months.
    7 Months.
    8 Months.
    9 Months.
    10 or more months?

    Cheers

We just booked our airfare for November yesterday, so that would be around 9 months. The price of airfare was a bit lower than it what we paid for last November, so we scooped it up. It may go a bit lower still...but didn't want to take the chance.

From Canada we usually do as soon as they come on-line...330 days out is usually the cheapest for us, then they go up from there. Paid a few hundred lesss than last year too!...New Years here we come!! believe it or not 300 more sleeps till Hedo!!!

I booked Caribbean Air (through Expedia) in Sept for a March 30 trip. Got the great rate and locked in on some good seats.

Caribbean air cancelled the flight a few days ago with the only option of leaving a day later or taking my cash back.

Took a $200 hit each to rebook with US Air.

Even used Expedia cuz we didn't trust Caribbean Air and thought they would help with any issues ......... Wrong! Expedia ...Worthless

HUGE PROBLEMS WITH AIRLINES THIS YR: 6 mo advance (Booked Oct 2011 for Apr 2012)

My only logical choice was US AIR. Perfect arrival time & agreeable price. In JAN got my E-letter. Flight no longer exists & I had to choose dif route. Only option available cost me another $200 in baggage & motel for overnight stay in Char. Sucks to be me!! In FEB noticed my ORIGINAL flight was being flown again (no notification from US AIR)...Called them, insisted they change my reservations back, cancelled motel...all good...Not so much! My partner had problems too but it's all good.

I book as soon as I know, but I'm always looking to use my miles!

Of course, in my world, I usually KNOW as soon as I see that good deal with my miles... Hmmm.....

9 months for the latest trip (Orlando). 2-4 months on average. Typically, the longer the flight, the farther ahead I like to book.

Wow, tickets in my area are always outrageous until about 3-4 weeks before I travel. I guess I'm a risk taker.
