New to the Lifestyle, but not Cruising.

We are booked for the Nov, 2012 cruise. We are new to the lifestyle but not to Cruising. We have been on 20+ cruises, so we are excited but nervious at the same time. Just not sure what to expect or what may be expected of us. We are on deck #8. Only available cabins were inside cabin's, since we just booked last month we are just happy to be on the ship. Any advise or ideas of what we can expect would be wonderful. We are Lifestyle Virgin's (Be gentle....Never mind I like it rough) We are not Barbie and Ken and we don't want too be. We are, I guess Avg. We have been married 25+ years, we have raised our children. We have always been the parents that put them first. Now it is time for us to have fun and enjoy our lives and each other.

The best thing you can do is talk about it together. Discuss what you really want out of the lifestyle, what you are willing to do and what you won't do. Set up your own little set of rules or guidelines. Establish a rule that says you can change the rules only after the fact and after you have discussed it and NOT in the heat of the moment. Other examples could be whether you are looking to just flirt and tease, soft swap, full swap. Do you want to play only with other couples together, same room, separate rooms? There is so much for you to talk about. Don't hesitate to send a private message if you want.

We have talked so much. We think starting slowly with baby steps and working our why in is best. Which is one of the reason we booked the cruise. We do know we want soft swap, same room. That may change, but like you said only if we both agree and not in the heat of the moment. We have a wonderful marrage and want to only improve on it not but cracks in it. Hope that makes sense. We understand that 99% of the couples in the lifestyle do not pressure others, and that being polite is a must. This is something we have talked about for quite sometime, we have read alot about it and both feel the time is right. We know reading about it and living it are two different things, and we are really looking forward to this trip. We have set gound rules for ourself. We have discussed what we will and will not do, If it's something I am not comfortable with right now he is ok with that, this works both ways. Of course we have also said once we have experienced the things that we have discussed, we can always rewrite our rules as long as we are in agreement together. We hope to meet great people and just have a great time. Thanks for any ideas or advice all are welcome!

Our advice is to go to some of the classes, like Couples Massage. They are a great way to slowly work your way into the lifestyle. There are also a lot of Meet & Greets on board for different types of people, go to them and meet others like you.

We have always said, what happens while we swing, happens, and nothing can change our relationship and the way we feel about each other. We don't believe in regrets, jealousy or issues. At the end of the day, we go home together and what happens with other couples is great, fun and exciting, but swinging doesn't define us as people. I think it's easy to conjure up all these pictures in your mind of what it will be like, but just let it happen, relax and enjoy whatever opportunities come your way. I look forward to meeting you there!

As long as you take it at your own pace and discuss the issues everything will take its coarse and will b a very enjoyable experience, all you have to remember is that it is you two as a couple doing it and nobody else can control how far you go. enjoy and have fun b happy and your relationship can climb to places unimagined

We're in a similar situation being newbies too. What we decided was to hit a few clubs/parties/meet folks as much as possible between now and the cruise in order to find our "comfort" level. That way we don't dump a lot of $$ in to a week long trip that we spend half our time trying to figure out what's going on. So far, not a single party (even at the same club) has been the same. Just our $.02 worth.

The beauty about the lifestyle is that are levels to suit all people. I'm not sure what they will have regarding organised meet and greets, but you could email the organisers and request they have a soft swap meet and mingle. Just an hour long get together at one of the bars on the first day of the cruise. That way you can talk to some like minded people.

There was also some discussion on one of the forums about using different coloured drink straws or wrist bands indicating the level of participation you desire.

I'm sure you're going to have a ball.

Wish we could try a few clubs and or parties, but not much to even try in our area. We have just decided regardless of how much or how little we end up doing on the ship it will still be a blast and like no other we have ever be on before. So whatever happens we are going to enjoy the week and everything it offers. Can't wait to see everyone on the ship!!
