Recent visitors to H2....is the pole in the disco still non-spinning?

There is a hole in the base of the pole which requires a locking pin dropped into it to hold the pole in static position so that it doesn't spin.

When we were there last April they had to drill out that hole as someone wedged something in there that broke off and you could no longer put the pin inside so it was stuck on permanent spin mode.

Once it was fixed a new locking pin (made special for that pole) was put in place in the hole and seemed fixed so that it would be unlikely that anyone would easily remove it.

Can anyone tell me from recent visits - is the pole locked in static or is it now back to a spinning pole????

Since pins had been missing often (actually, always) the past few years, and the pole was always on spinning (and greasy), we brought a few large-head nails from the hardware-store with us in different widths and lengths, so that she could dance on a static, which she found safer after a drink or two.

There was always one nail that worked, which we kept in place with a small piece of duct-tape. At the end of the night, or if someone wanted to try spinning for a bit, we would take the pin out and kept it with us for next night. We usually left it in when we left Hedo (without the duct-tape), so other people could use it on static as well, until somebody misplaced it again.

By the way, the pins from our (P.S.) star SA-pole didn't work, and the X-stage doesn't have them anyways.

Thanks but we actually had that pole fixed while we were there in April and the PS pins do now work...at least they did when we were there in April.

My question is to anyone who has been there since April, and especially recently, is is the pole still in non-spinning mode or did someone remove the pins and it's back in spin????

Someone had already removed the pin and it was lost by the time we were there in July.

Spin mode, much to Elle's chagrin.

When you're there MaryW can you let me know what I need to bring for New Year's just to make sure it's static.
I'm not sure what a PS pin is... mine has a set screw.
Pics or dimensions would be cool!

Thanks - Have a great time!

We'll have a pin with us...as long as no one has jammed anything that doesn't belong into the opening it should work. I gave a couple of them to Nick but I guess they are holding onto them.

PS stands for Platinum Stages which is the manufacturor of that pole. Their pins drop into a hole in the base. Someone had to work to get the pin out though as it was in there pretty tight when we were there.

The pins are available here: http://www.platinumstages.com/Spinni...ins_p_109.html

A place like that should never leave the pole on spin. There are too many people who not only dont know what they are doing but are drunk when they are trying to do it - on top of being in front of a glass window!!!

    Cool

We just got back from Hedo 2 today, and yes, the pole was spinning the two times we gave it a try this past week.

Thanks for confirming that the PS pins now (should) work. The PS Star S.A. was sold however, because the design (safety-wise) wasn't up to our liking. Plus there was way too much 'play' between all the elements, even when fitted with extended rubber feet.

So it's back to the X-Stage Lite now for travel purposes, although it has a lot more swing/instability with the 10ft pole than the standard X-Stage, so we (and Jenyne Butterfly) slightly prefer the standard one for shows, if weight is not an issue (no staircases), or if it's a higher profile event. Just my $0.02.

Anyway, hopefully the pin will stay in there for at least another week when the LoveVoodoo party-crowd comes in.

Tie a string to the pin and then to the pole .... There has to be a way to tether them together

Is a good screw necessary for a firm pole?

Or is it the other way around?

Thanks for the link. I believe we will order a few before we go for nick to keep. Maybe a little engineering will make it possible to stay with the pole when in spin mode..... ;-)
