    Newbie questions

I apologize in advance if these questions have already been asked, but there is only so much time in a day to search through this entire board!

After two years of vacationing at Desire, we're giving Hedo a try this November (13-18). We've heard so many conflicting reviews, we figure we should just judge it for ourselves!

    Anyway...we have a few questions:

    1) Do we need a power adapter to run a hair dryer (or some other appliance...)?

    2) Do guys generally dress up for the theme nights?

    3) Do guys really wear shorts, tank tops and flip-flops in the restaurants and disco?

    4) Is tipping expected/accepted?

    5) Is there a "family friendly" phone number available for us to leave with our babysitters (her parents) in case of emergency?

Thanks in advance for all your help. This board has provided us with a lot of great info, and we're really excited for this trip. We think we may even enjoy this trip more than Desire!

3 - Or Costumes from theme nite

5 -- I took a laptop (needed it for work anyway) with Magic Jack. Had to pay for wifi but were connected with the family in a discrete way

#1) The voltage (115) and the outlets are the same as the US but the Hertz (speed) is slower (50 not 60Hz) so your hair dryers, electric shavers, and some clocks will run slower but it shouldn't harm them. Most if not all new electronics will be fine.

#5) If you take a laptop and most smart phones you can use Google Voice to make and receive calls, voicemail, and text messages to/from any US number.

    2) Do guys generally dress up for the theme nights?
Depends on the week- but usually, yes. Though in my opinion we ladies do a better job, ha! When groups are in-house, you get much higher dress up percentages, both male and female.

    3) Do guys really wear shorts, tank tops and flip-flops in the restaurants and disco?
    Absolutely.

    4) Is tipping expected/accepted?
No. In fact, employees can get in trouble for accepting tips, so if you do give one, you need to be discreet about it.

    5) Is there a "family friendly" phone number available for us to leave with our babysitters (her parents) in case of emergency?
Front desk is (876) 957-5200. They will put caller through to your room where caller can leave a message.

Already answered but here ya go, lol.
    1. No, power works fine and there is a hair dryer in the room already, in the bathroom mounted to the wall.
    2. Depends on the theme and who is at the resort, I always do, its part of the fun.
    3. It used to be you could not wear a shirt with no sleeves in the restaurants, but I have seen a guy wear a cut off shirt in there now. I always wear shorts and a nice light collared shirt to Martino's and Munasan but might be in costume for Munasan, since it is out in the main dining area anyway, just off to the back.
    4. As stated, tipping is not allowed and could get someone fired. (Discretion is the word of the day)
    5. Depending on your service, your cell may work, or you could have international entered, and then they can call or text a message if necessary, and avoid the calling the front desk. (also don't forget to jump out of the bus on the way to Hedo if they stop at Breezes or another resort, get a pic in front of their sign, that way the rest of your clothed pics, on beach, etc, all look the same, and your covered for your family shared pics)

    When are you guys going?

instead of tips many people bring gifts for the staff such as school supplies and candy. If you do make sure its in a bag with your name and room number on it and that it is a gift to that staff member so they can take it with no problems.

We always bring gifts for staff where we go, and give a $5/10 handshake before we leave to those few staff who really made our trip special. As for clothes, Ricky wear sandles or flip flops and shorts with either a tank top or a sleeved button up shirt (usually undone) and we have no had any problems. It is a very laid back place. He was told at Desire to button up though, lol

I think they are all good Just remember though that unless it's one of the hot tub rooms, all the doors enter out to the back garden side. Only the window looks out over the beach. With that in mind we booked garden view nude. Less money, just as close and we aren't in our rooms looking out the window very much We have stayed at all of these types of rooms at one time.
