Thank you for that exhaustive list of the improvements going on. It's good to see them taking a step towards getting things in order!!

The improvements going on or scheduled to be done is very impressive. We were there in April when they began the demolition of the bridge and it was finished when went back last week. Other improvements we saw were:
- new tile floor in Delroys bar
- two new and very effective ceiling fans in Delroy's
- Plans to redo the bar top and outside tiles on the beach side of the bar (scheduled for September)
- One new "test" fan installed in the main dining which guests practically fought over to sit under. Replacement of all dining room fans is planned (no estimate on timing), but the test is a huge success.
- They were tearing up the cement tiles in the courtyard between the casino, gift shop and piano bar one section at a time to level that area and they replaced the grass between the tiles (definite hazard for the ladies in FMP's) with cement. At the rate they were going, I suspect the entire courtyard will be done in a couple of weeks or less.
- Repainting of the second floor nude side rooms near the nude volleyball court (same colors, fresh paint)
- Four new jacuzzis in the nude jacuzzi rooms closest to Delroy's, but the other jacuzzis were not replaced
- Better A/C in the disco (although one night it broke down altogether and they moved the disco to the pool deck (great idea because it was an uncharacteristically cool August night)
- New exhaust fan installed over the grill at the buffet
- Flambe station at dinner, located next to where the rolls and bread baskets are
- Entire nude pool deck scheduled to be resurfaced
- New and actually fluffy sand on the nude beach
- Some brand new lounge chairs were being taken out of plastic wrap and placed in the misting pool between the nude pool and hot tub

It was great to see that they're investing money in the "old girl" and making some much needed improvements. One thing that really needs to be addressed, however, is the broken drain (actually I think it's an outlet for water coming into the pool) on the right side of Delroy's as you face it from the pool side. This is dangerous. We saw someone get a pretty good gash from that broken drain cover last week. It's been broken for some time, but it's worse now and there as sharp edges. Something to be very careful of. This notwithstanding, though, the improvements are very impressive.

Any idea when they are going to be doing the resurfacing around the nude pool?

GREAT TO HEAR!!!! NOW IF THEY WOULD ONLY PUT IN A MUCH NEEDED STEP (WITH OR WITHOUT A LADDER) SO GUESTS WON'T FALL INTO THE "HOT TUB"----CAUSE SOMEDAY SOMEONE IS GONNA REALLY GET HURT-BADLY!!! just saying cause I love HII

The people doing the measurements were contractors who were asked to quote on the job and they didn't know the timing of the work. However, I suspect it will be a little while if they're just now getting quotes. On the other hand, they have been moving along at lightening speed (warp speed in Jamaica!) on many other projects, so who knows. Some have speculated that this flurry of activbity is in preparation for the big 30th annivarsary on Nov 1 so maybe they will gtry ot get this accomplished by then.

We often sit near the steps and warn the newbies about that first step. The newbies coming to the hot tub for the first time are pretty easy to spot no matter how cool and "matter of fact" they try to look. LOL They did fix the bottom step of the ladder into the nude pool while we were there. I guess it had fallen off completely and they put it back on.

The last BethJohn post was from john and he sounded like an ass to me - lol. Good thing he doesn't normally post here.

I do agree with him that the place is a dump, especially when you walk next door and see more modern hotels. I'm really not expecting 5-star resort but 3 stars would be nice and the resort itself is about equal to a HoJO on the shady side of town

From a business perspective i don't see how they don't see how beneficial having a nice resort would be. We have numerous friends that will now only go to mexico because of the resort difference. When you go with a large group the party is brought with you

That being said, I agree with y'all that we go there for the people not the fancy resort. they wouldn't even have a 10% return guest rate if it wasn't for the people. When we walked next door to Sandals we were so impressed with what it looked like but I kept commenting on how bored everyone looked. I agree that i would only stay there if i got it for free and could get passes to come next door!! I love all the friends that i've made through the years at Hedo. I wouldn't change any of it

I wouldn't call the place a dump. It may not have fancy furniture or spectacular amenities but the housekeeping and grounds staff IMO due an excellent job in keeping things clean and looking nice. We return as you said for the people, meaning staff and guests alike. We always meet the nicest, open, friendly people at Hedo. We have spent time at other resorts where people barley said hello to one another. We are never bored and always have a great time and will come back again and again.

Maybe I don't get out of the trailer park as often as I should, but I didn't find the resort that bad. Yes some things are broken or outdated, but for the most part everything is clean. Been to several other Carribean countries, and yes, some resorts are beautiful to look at, but try to get a decent crown n coke in the Dominican...good luck...let alone be able to enjoy it while surrounded by friendly, nakid people!

For the life of me I don't understand the obsession of some people with the rooms and amenities. Seriously, does anyone really care? We got back last week from 12 nights at Hedo and had not one second without hot water, the A/C in our room worked great, and the room was always very clean. That's all that matters to us about the room and amenities. The bottom line is that Hedo is unique in all the world. Nowhere else on the planet can you get what you get at Hedo in terms of freedom, fun, people, and atmosphere. NOWHERE. That's why the rooms don't matter! And for those to whom they do matter, go to Mexico, bring plenty of tip money and buy an English-Spanish translator app for your iPhone. Oh, and don't forget your Kindle, because you'll need it!

One update I noted was the number and quality of the TV channels. This was good this trip as we were watching the weather a LOT so we could make changes in travel if needed. Even the local Jamaican stations were crisp and clear to watch (as I channel surfed).
