    Book through group? or not?

    Hi,

After years of talking about it, my wife and I have finally decided to pull the trigger on a trip to Hedo (our long delayed honeymoon, actually). We want to go in January and were wondering if it's best to book through a group or directly or does it really matter once you get there whether you are part of a group or not. We aren't life stylers (yet!) but are open minded to trying new things should the opportunity arise so January seemed a good month to go but just didn't know about the group aspect of it.

    Thanks!

Many people book through a group to get the better rates they sometimes offer and then never really interact with the group. Nothing wrong with this, I guess, except it must drive the group leaders a little nuts. Other people are loyal members of certain groups and enjoy the company of the same friends every year and participate in all the group events. It's up to you and it's your vacation whether you go with a group or not. Having said that, if you want to go in January, you better book soon and you may have to book through a group since the groups in January block out most of the rooms. You may find that you can't get a room in January unless you do book through a group at this point.

If you look at superclubs direct..t.hey show all of January sold out...so to get a room you will have to book with an agent that has a block of rooms reserved for their group (we're a little over 1/2 sold for New Years!). You do not have to participate in the group if you don;t want to...as stated above it does drive us nuts sometimes when people book and we don;t know who they are...Funny story...we have one couple that have booked with us the last 5 years....Each year their name appears on our list...we know which room they are in, but have not met them EVER....we dont want to "infringe" on their vacation and figure they are jsut using us as a booking medium...but funny no less...we also have a couple my wife Sabina introduces herself to every year...they do their own thing...but for some stange reason she can never remember them...it's become a running joke as we all now introduce her to them at every opportunity!

I have also found that booking with a group also makes it little easier when at the resort(especially for newbie's). You meet and talk to members via facebook, yahoo, or some other forum. It kinda takes the edge off when getting to the resort you feel as if you already have friends to party with at the the resort.

we love to book with a group, a few times we have not, and i felt kind of lonely or out of place not knowing people ahead of time. although, the downside for us is that we get to love a group (AWOL) and then can not get that week off to go with them, then you feel sad and left out and it stinks!so, then you try to find another group going the week you can go. anyways, that being all said, it is nice to go with a group to already have some friends you know when you get there!

I agree ! It really does help as a newbie or even a vet going at any given time.Doesn't mean you have to participate in all the activities but just knowing a few before you go does make a difference.

We have done it both ways! 100% would book with a group, for many reasons that were already mentioned above, but the #1 reason we book with Wild Women Vacations is the NO BUMP guarantee!!

As was said earlier, joining a group doesn't mean participating. But I do think you miss out on a lot of what is Hedo if you don't.
In a group, you'll really feel at home, someone will take you under their wing and show you the ropes, as well, you'll even get swag. Also you won't waste time making new friends as you'll have pre made friends before you get their. Do check out the character of a given group though, to see what vibe matches something you think you might like. Some groups are very specific and others are not. But even if you join the "wrong" group you won't be pressured into anything you don't want to do.
Go, have fun, enjoy. You will return.

If it's cheaper/only way to book, no reason not to book with the group. Our first year we booked through DennyP, a travel agent that has a good standing reputation with hedo and we wanted someone more reliable than a run of the mill travel agent or travelocity when heading to another country for the 1st time. We joined a yahoo group that ended up not working out so well for us here. Unless forced, I don't think I could ever book with a ginormous group, I've been there when it was full capacity and close to it, I didn't like it either time... but that's me. My friend Craig, he loves full capacity.

Just because you get along with someone well on the internet doesn't mean you'll mesh in person. I wouldn't be surprised if there were people out there who didn't mesh well with me because I bounce. many times literally, but typically from person to person, having fun and moving on. Some times I stay put awhile, sometimes I don't. I know I ran into offsore a time or too..drunk, so I don't remember much. (this has nothing to do with the mesh aspect, but rather I bounce. A LOT.) I suck with names and faces, and when it comes to people i run across on the internet, I may not put 2 and 2 together! hell, I ran into Roxi only because keystone pointed her out! I can be...oblivious.

That is so true....and it also works the other direction. More than once I had thought someone was a total tool in the virtual world only to really get along with them once I met them in person.

    We have booked both ways.
This year for our two trips we booked with WWV for our Hedo Amigos trip. Great way to be part of a party.

We have just come home from a week where two groups were there and we were not with them. (we did book at one of the groups rates however) Once there we chilled to our own pace and times. My vote is simple. Go with a group if the room rates are good. Once there if you do not jell with the group your still at Hedo so you make it your vacation, your way. That is how we met up with the "Bunch of Fucking Idiots" the first time and we LOVE our Amigos and will be with them when ever possible.
If you jell with the group all that much better and no loss if you do not.

We've always booked through Travelocity and then hung out with groups that were there when we were. ButtCrack tour, Hedo's MoJo, and MaryEllen's group are all so great. This time I thought I was booking through Castaways and it took me to SuperClubs home page with Castaways up in the corner so I booked it. Not sure what i did but we will be there for 10 days in April, whoo hoo!! Can't wait

I get that alot, with all the posts I make, sometimes what I see in my mind and type online, others take a completely different way.
I have had people say " you are exactly like you are online in person" and others say "I thought you were a real ass online but are really nice in person", lol.
But the end result is you are at Hedo, make your vacation what you want, and you can not have a bad time.
We like going when a group is there, ours or someone elses, and if we don't like what they are doing, we do something else.
