Rose Hall's Great House near MoBay

Hey guys,

I was researching things to do in Jamaica when I came across a story out just outside of Montego Bay. It's a former sugar plantation called Rose Hall that has a refurbished Great House.

But the story doesn't stop there, in 1929 Jamaican author H. G. de Lisser wrote a book telling the tale of the former "White Witch of Rose Hall". The book spells out a story of a woman who used to live at the estate as owner and was involved in several murders at the plantation.

P.S., I got the book and read it. It's a nice little read and I learned a lot about slavery in Jamaica.

Chad, if you are interested in history and architecture, it is well worth a trip to see the house. As to the story of the White Witch, weellll, I'm sure much artistic license was taken in the writing of the book. Much literature and "news" in the early part of the 20th century was SERIOUSLY embellished: old man Hearst, Lord Beaverbrook etc were not above fabricating stories to sell papers - they make Rupert Murdoch look like St. Peter!!
