Newbie trip review for the week of April 30th to May 7th

Having been to Desire and this being our first ever trip to Hedo we have something to compair with. Now don't get me wrong while reading this. Hedo was a lot of fun and we met some fantastic friends(you know who you all are). Having supper with Ron Jeromy was something we will never forget. Playing nude volleyball with our new and amazing friends was amazing.
The difference for us was as follows...
-The resort is run down and it doesn't look like they are going to really do much about it anymore. It's still nice but it's a shame they are letting this place fall apart slowly. Desire is still a 5 star and in much better shape. Yes a little bit more expencive but worth it.

-The food and restaurant choices at Desire top Hedo by a long shot.

-Hedo allows the creepy single guys and Desire is a couples only. We found that both times we tried the hottub late at night it was half filled with single guys who would sit about every 7 feet taking up 3/4 of the tub. My wife was so creeped out we didn't go back a third time. Now this being said, none of the guys hit on us or made us uncomfortable, but knowing that 10 guys were waiting for you to start fooling around to slowly crawl over was not that much fun. We did meet a fellow Canadian single guy who we spent a lot of time with. But he was very resectful of every couples space and would not even go to the nude side during the day.

-Desire's beach is a lot nicer and it doesn't have a lot of seaweed like on the nude side.

-The people we met are all wonderful and charming. We had a blast with everybody at both places.

So if we ever desided to do another lifestyle vacation or nude vacation, we would pay a little bit more and have the extra services, pampering and all around nicer place. I suggest a few Hedo faithfuls should try Desire once also and if Hedo remains your first choice there is nothing wrong with that. If I had never visited Desire first I would already be booking for Hedo again myself. Hedo was something I always said I would try and I am glad I did.

Your post makes us think maybe we should try desire atleast once. We may give it a try. Yes there were creepy single guys we just never went to pool too late ever since you both told us. Maybe if we seen what you did I would have posted about it too. Also for some crazy reason we just turn the other cheek on these things. By the way you never thouched my cheek .lol....Volleyball was alot of fun. Glad we both met you both on our trip and in hopes we meet again.

Hey, thanks for the honest report! I hadn't even looked at Desire, but hearing your report makes me think we'll do that sometime. Hope you had a good time. Maybe we'll bump into you at Desire!

We had an amazing trip and it's certainly the people that we met that made it that way - and we too concur that the nude volleyball at midnight was a blast.
Yet, Mike47 is bang on in terms of the shape of the place - very run down, with it not looking like they have much intention of making any immediate improvements.
I'd also add that a lot of the staff did not seem too happy to be there, thus the overall service was not as good as it should have been.
That being said, we will likely try Desire at some point, but will also be back to Hedo as well.

We totally agree about the weird creepy single guy thing at the evening hot tub. It didn't seem so bad for our first few days but there seemed to be a big change in the crowd and for our last few nights there always seemed to be more single guys in the hot tub than cpls. And the single guys were often sitting together, sometimes 3 and 4 side by side on all sides of the hot tub. It was so creepy we found it funny to just watch them watching us, lol. We also realized that some of the guys weren't actually singles, but the male part of cpls but the female was nowhere to be seen so must have been in bed. One night there was one really strange guy who was zig zagging from end to end every few minutes to see if he was missing anything. We used to purposely get out of his view and sure enough, he would move again to follow us. He really started to tick off a few of us cpls. Yes, we also did meet a few very polite and respectful guys and had no issues with them. But there were also a couple of occasions in the afternoon hot tub where a few singles guys purposely got a little too close to us and our friends. Our guys had to block them from trying to get closer to the girls a couple of times and eventually had to tell them to take a hike. What took the cake for us, was the old gentleman who would sit on the side of the evening hot tub by himself and tkae matters into his own hands, lol. The more activity there was to watch...the more he got down to business. Like really... there is no need to have to put up with that when you and your partner are trying to have an intimate moments. It kind of spoils the mood. Despite all this, if we didn't like the audience in the tub we would just wait for them to clear out, or we would just come back later. We always managed

I'm not one of these people for whom Hedo is a religion that needs to be defended at every turn, but we had the opposite impression on our last trip (4/7 to 4/26). We felt like there was more (lots of) energy among the staff than we had seen in the last few trips and we loved the new EC's and the new shows as well as the EC interaction with the guests around the nude pool. The bartenders and other staff seemed happy to us. We also saw improvements being made while we were there. The bridge walkway to the beach from the prude pool area was being torn down and my understanding is that the plan is to replace it. The "broken ankles waiting to happen" foot washes around the nude pool had been filled in and they were replacing all of the jacuzzis on the jacuzzi room patios. It's also my understanding that the new (larger) fans in the dining room are scheduled to be replaced by June when the really warm weather hits (although this has been scheduled in the past so I'll rejoice when it actually happens). Yes, the rooms haven't changed much for as long as we can remember, but we probably don't spend more than 1 to 2 waking hours a day there anyway. I agree that the quality and the variety of the food could be better, but I gained 7 pounds in nine days, so obviously I wasn't starving. We also love the culture and feeling of Jamaica. We've been to Mexico (although not to Desire) a number of times and it just isn't the same for us. Having said all that, everyone has their preferences, what's important to people in a vacation and a location varies from person to person, and everyone goes to wherever they go for different reasons. We go to Hedo for the fun, the 24/7/365 party, the atmosphere, the freedom and the fantastic people we meet each time, and yes, the staff many of whom we have become friends with. Everything else is secondary to us. We're happy we get food and we're happy that we have a bed to sleep in. But, like I said, everyone has to make their vacation decision based on what they want and what makes them happy. Thanks for taking the time to write your trip report, Mike47. It is always interesting to hear about other places and see the comparisons.

Although we can agree with all the previous posts, all these issues where not actually a problem for us... we didn't have too high expectations... so Hedo was a lot of fun for us and we met really great people there ... we will try Desire one day... but we are defenitely sure now that we will come back to Hedo again

As this will be our first time to Hedo 2 because we are transplanted from Hedo 3, we have to give it a try, if it fails we are done, been wanting to try Desire for a while.

So interesting to hear others' perspectives...we have not been to Desire, but have lots of friends who have. Many of them have said that although Desire is a beautiful resort with nicer rooms and better food, it did not have the energy and excitement of Hedo. They said not having a real "nude" side made things odd for them, and the feeling that tipping was expected (and almost required) to get good service was a turnoff. They said that guests weren't nearly as interactive as at Hedo, too.

As far as the singles, maybe we've been lucky, but we've never really been bothered by creepy single guys (except for Moe's Evil Twin, who was ejected from the resort). Of course, they are there, but for the most part have been really respectful, and we've enjoyed meeting a lot of single guys and girls there and taking them under our wings. I can't bash single guys anyway, because if they weren't allowed at Hedo, I never would have met my darling husband! He was a single guy at H3 and I was there with a girlfriend.

We've talked about trying Desire, but between my bad Mexico experiences, the reports on the really bad mosquitos, and the lack of a dedicated nude side (as well as the mixed reviews about the intangibles like energy), I'm not sure if we'll ever make it there.

The single guys don't bother me much. I was touched without permission at Desire by a married guy, and that never happened at Hedo. The people are friendlier at Hedo, the atmosphere is so much better at Hedo and the sexual energy is the best at Hedo. Although Deisre is a 5 star and is beautiful it is very small. the staff is amazing and I would recommend the towel service, Hedo shoudl start that. Desire is like a regular resort during the day, snobs sitting around reading books and barely talking to anyone, although you can be naked doing that. NO daytime life whatsoever!!!!!!! The late afternoon is pretty happening in the hot tub, nights are alright, but NOTHING compares to Hedo!!! I think it is what you do first and having an awesome time doing, that is what you want to go back to. I would NOT recemmend anyone who loves Hedo to waste thrit money on Desire!!!!! Oh and a side note (as it is important to a lot of people on vacation), ganja is very difficult to come by, VERY expensive and HIGHLY illegal and you can not smoke in the open.

Thanks for the report. Not sure i would go to Desire as i heard its more of a younger crowd and they tend to judge people by appreamce and not for themselves. But glad you had a good time

After the kids are gone, we may try desires (when we can go longer) Our problem is the very long flight. (I know lots of people have long flights, we just don't want to spend so much time traveling that eats into our vacation time. 4 hours non-stop, or several hours with at least 1 lay-over.

Sorry you had a bad experience with the obnoxious amounts of vinnies only a small handful of times in our last 6 trips, and even then, we just have fun with them. The one thing most people don't realize is, hedo is the one of 2 all-inclusive adult resorts in Jamaica. Like someone else said, I've been unwantingly been groped by married people, both men and women.
I could be wrong, but from everything I heard about Desire's is more of a swinger's resort than a naked funness resort. We go for the funness, not the swinging aspect.

Nope, the beaches aren't so great as desires, as for the run downness of the resort, every year we have been there they have been doing maintenance. Roofs, A/C, repaving.
I'm not surprised on your opinion about the food, even HIII had better food. Hopefully they'll eventually get their act together in the food dept. (the desserts will probably never change, though)
We didn't go in with high expectations or even an all-inclive comparison. We chose this resort because A; we got into an argument (best argument ever) B; the bar stayed open later, and we're night owls, C; the atmosphere. We knew the food wasn't great, the resort wasn't 5 stars and it was the atmosphere people go to. Anyone who goes in with high expectations, will typically be disappointed.

Am happy for you that you got to meet a lot of nice people, V'ball is always fun.

I hear you about the bars. One night we were in the hot tub late (for Desire anyway) with about 5 or 6 other couples and next thing you know all the lights shut down and the baar was closed. He didn't let us know he was about to close and would not make us one last drink, NOPE bar is closed. I even did an erotic dance for him on the bar, nope nothing. So now there were 6 couples sitting in a dark hot tub with no drinks. Major mood killer!!!! At Hedo the bar stays open until the last person crawls their ass to bed!!!

People, I am not bad mouthing Hedo in any way. It always depends on the week you travel to one of these resorts as to what type of energy you will have and of course what couples or amount of single men will be present . I've only been to Desire once and the daytime party around the pool was over the top fun. The hottub and beds beside the hottub was always fun late at night. As a couple we just prefered Desire experiance over the Hedo one. We even tried to have some fun one night on the beach only to be stalked by a security guard who wanted to watch. It was tough to find an area to just fool around together alone besides our room. I do however agree that if you are part of a group that goes every year to Hedo, you will most likely have more fun at Hedo. It's all personal preferance when you come down to it.

One thing that really upset my wife was paying extra to have an ocean view only to find out we had no balcony to sit out(or fool around) on. We have always had a balcony no matter where we go. We figured there would be one with every room at Hedo as well. No such luck. Would have had to pay more money for the bottom rooms with the hottubs. If I would have known in advance I would have never paid 300 dollars more for the ocean view just to look at it out a window.
