Newbie trip review for the week of April 30th to May 7th

I wished we would have had a balcony as well but hey no biggy. We fooled around on the beach on night with no problems but it was way late like 4 am i think. I dont think anyone is taking you as bad mouthing hedo my friend. It was your vacation and your report. You write how you see fit. I will try and get a hot tub room next time we go as well. They are " supposed " to be replacing them also. So we shall see.

Yes the ocean view thing is a real personal preference thing. We absolutely love being up in the trees close to the beach and the sound of the ocean and the occasional Jamaican nightingale at night. But we know lots of people who would rather save their cash or stay an extra day.

I agree with Mike, not many places to have "comfortable" sex outside at Hedo. We were stalked numerous times too, either by security guards or single males. To us this place need a bunch of beds set up for "play-time" like Desire has. Also, there is no back room in the disco for some play-time. We had fun at Hedo, but will be returning to Desire for more couples playing around on comfortable beds/couches, no single men and respectful security guards, we really don't go for the food but Desire is better in that department. I do think that the drinks at Hedo were stronger and better. I strongly suggest that everyone tries both resorts before forming an opinion. Desire is way more sexually charged in a non-direct way, more quiet and elegant. If you want to be loud and have sex on a plastic beach chair or concrete then Hedo is for you. I recommend trying both but prefer Desire.

Interesting comparision between Hedo and Desire. We've only been to Desire once and we were there with a group so we really had a great time. However, we did not feel resort warranted the higher price. In our opinion the only food that was better at Desire was the Japanese restaurant. The specialty and buffet were the same or in some cases not as good as at Hedo.

We got the run of the house room and there was nothing special about it - certainly wouldn't consider it better than Hedo but it still cost more than most rooms at Hedo.

I think that just like Hedo, the atmosphere at Desire can vary depending on the week and the group present.

There were several porn stars there for cinco de mayo, most of them seemed pretty "down-to-earth" and was very friendly.

Ron was very nice and socialized with all of us like we were long-time friends. Nicki Hunter, Shawn Michaels and a couple more that I forgotten their names were there also.

We were at Desire in Oct and loved it. The service, food and grounds were much better at Desire. Beach is better at Hedo. Desire is more sensual less frat party. I think it is the people that is the important thing here. If you have good people at the resort when you go you have a great time.

Thanks for your report. We agree with some of your points. We love the hedo experience and the people that travel there, but we just feel that the resort is in dire need of some upkeep. That is exactly why we decided to stay down the road at another resort. We plan on visiting in the evenings since we love the hedo nightlife. We're not worried about staying elsewhere during the day and only coming over to hedo at night. We're very social, lol. This whole thing about hedo vs Desire doesnt interest us. We love Jamaica and the social aspects of Hedo. We just dont like the facilities. In a perfect world, Hedo would take over BRB since its now closed, or better yet, have Desire come into Jamaica and take that resort over. Now travellers who love Jamaica have both resorts to pick from!!

I agree that Hedo needs some work (ok, maybe more than just "some"), but the problem is that it would be a huge undertaking and would take a very long time, maybe even requiring the place to close down for a while. Even if it didn't close, certain facilities would have to be closed during renovations. Anyone interested in going when the nude pool or the hot tub is closed for repairs? I don't have an answer because obviously it can't go on forever without the renovations, but in the meantime, it still works for us, warts and all.

We also love Jamaica, the culture, the music and the people. We've been to Mexico a number of times and it just isn't the same. I'm sorry, but a mariachi band just doesn't cut it for us compared to reggae.
