    Hedo 2 Beach / Ocean

My wife and I are Hedo virgins and wanted to know about the beach at H2. When we think of Caribbean, we think of beautiful turqoise waters of the ocean. We've read that the beach is so-so, lots of seaweed and also these stinging urchins. Not what I envisioned when we booked. My vision was hot wife, naked in the ocean and no concerns of my balls being stung by these sea urchins. Are we misinformed? Was planning on lots of "non-motorized" watersports with the wifey (if u know what I mean). Please feel free to share any input you may have. Thanks.

PS - not to sound dumb but what is an Avatar?

The urchins are on the floor of the ocean, as is the seaweed. No need to worry about your balls. If you're going to walk around a bunch out there, I'd recommend water shoes, in any case. The nude beach sits behind a jetty (artificially made some years back) which causes that water to be more stagnant, hence the seaweed. Further down the beach is much "cleaner" (still on the Hedo property). If you're on a float, there's really little to worry about. The water, in my opinion, is still beautiful to look at, but perhaps not the most beautiful you could find.

The beach above the water line, the staff keeps immaculate.

The beach is so, so clean and wonderful and ...

Get a pair of water shoes and keep your balls off the urchins, and enjoy the warm water. It's a real ocean, not a Disney creation, so there are real fish, crabs weeds, sand -- all the things that make the Caribbean so much fun. Not to mention the action on the raft, the blue taxi, the Sandals sightseeing boat, the fishermen.

The beach is long, clean and not so-so.

LMAO ... the Sandals boat ...

The water is not the nicest in Negril, water shoes are highly recommended or good vision to look for those nasty sea urchin critters, we always find them, but not in the nicest way ... a few Appletons, relaxed mind and a want to get in the water and play makes us forget about the stuff on the bottom ...

The beach is fine...not fabulous white sand, turquoise water beach like the rest of the beach in Negril, but it doesn't suck. There is usually seaweed around and often urchins. I wouldn't go walking around too much in the water if you're freaked about stepping on one. I tend to stay in the very shallow water and just sit and hang out or float or drag down a chair into the water if it is the middle of the summer and sweltering. It's all good!!! It won't be the pristine fabulous long stretch of beach like in Tulum or even the main beach in Negril...but it's Hedo....so that kinda sorta makes up for it (okay....totally makes it my favorite beach!).

Don't sit on the sand in the water and your balls will be ok. Sea urchins are everywhere not just H2. Our son got on one in Costa Rica and it got him thru his wetsuit. I have not been to any ocean where you didn't have an issue or two with something in the water. No sharks have yet to be reported on the nude beach. The water usually has a good blue color and seaweed is usually only a problem when there is a storm. It is raked and buried within a day of the event in most cases. Water shoes are a smart move on any beach.
