I've not seen talk of power converters. Am I correct in assuming Jamaica is on the same power standard as the US?

They are at 50 Hz instead of the 60 Hz here in The US. 110 Volts. Mainly the standard plug like here in the US. Check whatever devices your bringing to see if they meet the specs. We've brought a converter in the past, but have yet to use it, though I ahve heard of some electronics going haywire with the change in Hz....Originally Posted by okjhawk

Everything we've ever brought with worked, though because of the lower Hz some things are powered as strong...like my blow dryer is weaker than when I use it at home. However our camera and phones charge just fine.

Speaking of hair dryers, I have read a lot of "what to pack" tips but haven't seen hair dryer mentioned. Do we need to pack a hair dryer?
I had no trouble using the dryer at Hedo 2? Good question do I need to bring one to 3?

Hedo III has a hair dryer in the room. However it takes longer to dry your hair then it would at home. But I think it would be the same if you bring one from home, and thats just one more thing you have to pack.
My hair is long and it takes alot to dry it so I wash it in the afternoon then go out side and let it air dry some then use the dryer in the room and it don't take that long to dry it. I have to say I have a hard time getting my hair to do much in Jamaica. So I have some wigs that I use a lot. Just some of the ones you just clip on to your hair.
Thanks for the tip. We leave in 2 days and a wake up!! (not that I haven't been counting for the last month...............)Rum cream here we cum.

Have a good trip, lst us know how it went when you get back.
I'm sure you will have the time of your life. We go in May and we are counting as well.this will be trip 11 for us.
Thanks for the info. We looked at our power supplies and we are good to go. March 11th here we come.
I bring my own dryer from home and it definitely runs weaker than it does back here - but it's stronger than the one in the room.
Like Carolyn said...between the weak hair dryer and the humdity, I seem to have very few "good hair days" at Hedo.
