Would you all fill in a very novice newbie about when and where pictures are ok. I know my beloved wants to take some of me sitting on the beach, lounging in a chair, all that sort of thing, but we certainly don't want to be guilty of the offences that have everyone so upset!

We often see pics of a single person, posted by themselves or their spouse, on the beach or by the pool or at a table in the dining room. My husband would love to take that sort of pic of me but definitely doesn't want to start a fight on the beach! We have enough respect to not want to be a problem for others but if there is an etiquette for doing it, we would appreciated it. Otherwise we will leave the camera in the room.

As one who apparently is over-touchy on having my picture taken, I would say you could basically take a picture ANYWHERE as long as it is only of you or your spouse/friends/or those who WANT to be in the picture. Even just a heads up of "Hey... I'm taking a picture in a minute" or simply waiting until no one else is in the shot is fine.

Pictures can be taken at any time on the prude side beach/pool. Technically, the dining room is on the prude side, but many people are touchy about pictures there because they're often wearing very revealing clothing. Pictures are not permitted on the nude side, but if you go down there early in the morning before anyone is around, you can take pictures of the facilities and the beach. My avatar, for example, was taken at about 7:00am on the morning we left on our last trip. No one will bother you at that time, including security, but you should still be careful about anyone being in the background. I have also seen people take a picture out on the point (see my avatar) in the middle of the day with the water as the background. As long as no one is in the background you shouldn't be bothered, but generally speaking when a camera comes out on the nude side when people are down there the security guards swoop down on the offender.

In our past 3 trips we try to take as many photos as possible. Only to finally get to see ourselves completely happy, nude and a in a beautiful setting.

Each time we bring the camera out when others may be nude we do two very important things.
    1. We loudly warn anyone in the frame that we're taking a photo (usually of us and a friend or two.)
    2. We bring a 5 x 7 laminated sign in large letters that says, "TAKING PICURES! Yell at us if it bothers you!"

If anyone ever complains or even looks uncomfortable, we simply put the camera away and move to another location. As a result we have a bunch of fun filled digital memories from all over the resort.

As long as you respect everyone's wishes there's no problem with cameras. Now, I did find at least one gentleman taking secretive photos behind a shrub. Nude and drunk, I promptly grabbed his camera and threw it in the ocean. There are those that love Hedo and cherish our friends and we have an obligation to look out for those trying to take advantage of them and even the friends we haven't met yet.

FYI: A completely nude, very white, computer programmer going batshit on a despicable "Wally" is a sight to see. I haven't been in a physical altercation since High School in the 1980's and this felt GREAT. I'd guess that for a few months every time that asshole tried to rub one out all he could see in his mind was my 250 lb. hairy ass and perfectly shaven pubes. Naked nerds defending their ladies and friends are scary sights. HA!

One other note about cameras: After a few years of email correspondence, we became friends with Chris Santilli. She was there on our last trip in '08. Here we were with one of the most infamous Hedo guests and it was she who suggested that we take a group photo in front of Delroy's. I'll never show the pics to anyone but we all simply yelled out that we're takin' a pic and those that were uncomfortable left the frame for 20 seconds and it was over.

If you bring love and respect, you get it back tenfold.

Sounds like good common sense Walrus.

The fact of the matter is, as stated above, if someone wants to take pics/video, there are plenty of spy cams available these days for nominal cost. So even if you attempted a "no camera" rule, it would still happen and those are the folks you have to really worry about. Would we be happy if we end up on a public forum without our knowledge? ABSOLUTELY NOT!! Would we want to sacrifice our precious memories in some vain effort to prevent any and all photography?? AN EVEN MORE EMPHATIC NO!!

It would be nice if the resort took offensive photography a little more serious, but sad as it is, if you can't afford to take the risk that you may have your picture taken unknowingly, then you probably shouldn't be in the situation, be it at Hedo or anywhere else for that matter.

With that said, pictures WILL be taken regardless of a "no camera" rule, which means those that are respectful and love our personal pictures would sacrifice without really rectifying the situation.

    Just my two cents...
Your words are our words. Of course we will register our moments. Now, if others will be in the same photo, then we will ask them prior taking the pictures. Kisses

Most of us in the group were repeats vactioners at hedo several times over and you no this was this guy first time. I hope management takes notice of us repeaters.http://www.online-travel-agent-opportunities.com

Thaty is fine! I take pictures of my wife early in the morning before alot of people show up on the beach but all your husband has to do is check with the surrounding people & security and ask them if its ok to shoot just you. I never has anyone tell me no.

I will tell you that security is not screwing around with the cameras. I was on the beach early my last morning (just 3 days ago) and took about 5 pictures ot the empty beach with my phone then put it away. This was about 8 am. By 9, the beach was already starting to get busy and security had to tell 3 different men to lose the cameras. They actually had one couple leave the beach because the guy kept saying that he was only taking pictures of his wife and was so obviously not. It made me far more comfortable knowing that my privacy was being protected.

The fact that they are protecting privacy and keeping people from taking pics when they should not is a good thing. But if the guys actually WERE only taking pictures of their wives, would they also have been escorted away?

I have a feeling if they had come out an hour earlier, when the beach was virtually deserted, there would have been more tolerence. But quite honestly, once people started showing up, the cameras were not welcome at all. As I said, security was all over anyone with a camera.

It sounds like they are trying to balance being tolerant (when appropriate) and very strict the rest of the time. Probably not the easiest job, but it sounds like they are doing a great job. While we expect to be able to find time to take photos of ourselves when we are there (while at ALL times respecting others privacy), we also highly value our privacy, so keeping other cameras from pointing our way is a huge concern.

Cameras (at least ones we could see) were not a big issue when we were there a couple of weeks ago. I guess that's the problem - the ones you can't see.

Just got back and the only problem we saw was when a girl came over from the prude side (never would take her clothes off in the nude pool) and was taking pics of couples in the hot tub one nite.. some people got pretty angry and i dont blame them. We take our camera but never to the disco or the dining hall.... we take our pictures in the room after we get ready to go out or during the day by ourselves walking thru the resort. Hedo is paradise... but there are idiots everywhere

We definitely will bring our camera as we are a couple. The idea is to take pictures of ourselves everywhere including the beaches or disco that we will be in. Now, if the people wants to join our picture is fine, but if noone want to be in the picture it is fine too. The good thing is that our memories will be registered.
