This situation looks like it may be getting worse? I wonder if it will stay contained to that area of Jamaica or filter to the tourist areas?

    AS AT 10 A.M. 2010 MAY 28,
The City of Kingston resumed normal activities today with businesses open and back to regular hours of operation. As a precautionary measure, police presence on the roads in Kingston will be maintained with particular vigilance in areas of concern.

Based on past experience and history, I believe that the unrest will continue to stay in Kingston. Kingston is a universe unto itself, and very different from the rest of the island. Jamaica works very hard to keep we tourists safe and happy....if you hadn't heard about what was going on and you arrived there I doubt you would even get an inkling of what was going on.

Jamaica is an island of many contradictions.

On the contrary, it may actually be safer. The situation seems to be isolated to an area in kingston where the guy they are after has barricaded himself in the area they control.
I hear fellow gang members are coming in from outlying areas to help fight. So it would stand to reason that if anything the criminal element is heading towards kingston not away.

Duda, you are exactly right. At least, other assessments that I have seen said that was the case last week, when all this was starting.
