Most just wear a bathing suit around and leave it in the pocket once they get to the pool and take them off. It stays safe in your suit and you don't have to worry.

I actually went to the gym 2 or 3 times on our 1st trip to HIII. The gym was in excellent shape when we were there in August 2007.
