Need airline deals to Jamaica

We want to make it to Hedo this year and are looking at airline prices. With gas being down we thought flights would be reasonable. Dallas is only 3.5 hours away from Jamaica.
But we can't find any nonstop Sat. To Sat flights cheaper than $650 or $700.
Any Texas peeps have any suggestions. In the past five years we have gotten flights for $350-$500.
Why is it so much more now?
We are open to most times of the year, though we don't usually travel during high season, since the room rates are so much more.
I have checked orbitz, expedia, and southwest .
Any suggestions?

Check out airfarewatchdog.com. You can actually put in a route you want and they'll send you fare alerts.
They also have articles on how to get good deals.

I also use fly.Com fare calendar for flexible travel.

I've generally found the best prices to the Caribbean are found when you book 2-3 months out from your intended trip date. Kayak has a really nice search feature where it will send you periodic updates of the lowest fares it can find for specific destination / dates - very handy.
